طرح الملياردير الأمريكي إيلون ماسك تساؤلًا مثيرًا عبر منصّته «إكس»، حول إمكانية تأسيس حزب سياسي جديد يمثل الغالبية الصامتة من الأمريكيين، وذلك بعد ساعات فقط من خلافه العلني مع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
وكتب ماسك في منشور أثار جدلًا واسعًا وتفاعلًا كبيرًا: «هل حان الوقت لتأسيس حزب سياسي جديد في أمريكا يُمثل فعليًا 80% من الناس في الوسط؟».
سهم تسلا
وشهد سعر سهم تسلا انخفاضا كبيرا يوم الخميس مع تصاعد الخلاف بين حليفي الأمس الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة تسلا إيلون ماسك، حيث أشار ترمب إلى أن الحكومة الفيدرالية قد تجرد شركات ماسك من عقودها الفيدرالية.
وسجل سهم تسلا انخفاضاً بنسبة تصل إلى 18% في التعاملات اليومية -وهو أكبر انخفاض تشهده شركة صناعة السيارات الكهربائية منذ نحو خمس سنوات- قبل أن يستعيد بعض قوته ليغلق منخفضًا بنسبة 14.3%، أو 47.35 دولار. وقد أدى هذا الانخفاض إلى محو نحو 151 مليار دولار من القيمة السوقية لشركة تسلا.
يأتي هذا الانخفاض في الوقت الذي تبادل فيه ترمب وماسك، أغنى شخص في العالم، الانتقادات اللاذعة على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي يوم الخميس، إذ صعّد ماسك انتقاداته لمشروع قانون الضرائب والإنفاق «الضخم والجميل» الذي اقترحه ترمب هذا الأسبوع، واصفًا إياه بأنه «عمل مقيت» يوم الثلاثاء، في الوقت الذي يسعى فيه الكونجرس لإرسال التشريع إلى الرئيس بحلول 4 يوليو.
وندد ماسك بمشروع القانون بسبب تكلفته الباهظة، حيث توقع مكتب الميزانية في الكونجرس، وهو مكتب غير حزبي، أن التشريع سيزيد عجز الميزانية السنوية بما مجموعه 2.4 تريليون دولار على مدى العقد القادم.
وكان ترمب انتقد ماسك على تطبيقه للتواصل الاجتماعي «تروث سوشيال»، مشيرًا إلى أن إحدى الطرق التي يمكن للحكومة من خلالها خفض الإنفاق هي سحب العقود الحكومية من شركات ماسك.
وكتب ترمب بعد ظهر يوم الخميس: «أسهل طريقة لتوفير المال في ميزانيتنا، مليارات ومليارات الدولارات، هي إنهاء الدعم الحكومي والعقود التي يمنحها إيلون ماسك. لطالما فوجئت بأن بايدن لم يفعل ذلك!».
وتعتمد بعض شركات ماسك على العقود الفيدرالية، بما في ذلك شركة استكشاف الفضاء سبيس إكس، التي تلقت نحو 20 مليار دولار من العقود الفيدرالية منذ عام 2008، وفقًا لصحيفة يو إس إيه توداي.

مركبة Dragon الفضائية
من جانبه، كتب ترمب على موقع Truth Social أن ماسك «جن جنونه» بسبب اقتراح مشروع قانون الضرائب بإلغاء الإعفاءات الضريبية على السيارات الكهربائية.
وردًا على اقتراح الرئيس بأن تجرد الحكومة الفيدرالية شركة ماسك من عقودها، قال الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة Tesla إنه أمر شركة SpaceX بإيقاف مركبة Dragon الفضائية.
وكتب ماسك: «في ضوء تصريح الرئيس بشأن إلغاء عقودي الحكومية، ستبدأ SpaceX في إيقاف تشغيل مركبة Dragon الفضائية على الفور».

Tesla Stock
The price of Tesla's stock saw a significant drop on Thursday as the rift between yesterday's allies, President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, escalated, with Trump indicating that the federal government might strip Musk's companies of their federal contracts.
Tesla's stock recorded a decline of up to 18% in daily trading - the largest drop the electric vehicle manufacturer has seen in nearly five years - before regaining some strength to close down 14.3%, or $47.35. This decline wiped out about $151 billion from Tesla's market value.
This drop comes at a time when Trump and Musk, the world's richest person, exchanged sharp criticisms on social media on Thursday, as Musk intensified his criticism of the "huge and beautiful" tax and spending bill proposed by Trump this week, describing it as "an abominable act" on Tuesday, while Congress is trying to send the legislation to the president by July 4.
Musk condemned the bill for its exorbitant cost, as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projected that the legislation would increase the annual budget deficit by a total of $2.4 trillion over the next decade.
Trump had criticized Musk on his social media app Truth Social, suggesting that one way the government could cut spending is by pulling government contracts from Musk's companies.
Trump wrote on Thursday afternoon: "The easiest way to save money in our budget, billions and billions of dollars, is to end the government support and contracts given to Elon Musk. I've always been surprised that Biden hasn't done that!"
Some of Musk's companies rely on federal contracts, including the space exploration company SpaceX, which has received about $20 billion in federal contracts since 2008, according to USA Today.
Dan Ives, a technology analyst at Wedbush, told CBS MoneyWatch that the public feud between the two "sends chills down the spines of Tesla investors."
Ives added: "This has gone from a nice candlelit relationship to a knife fight... Neither Musk nor Trump is the type to back down."
Dragon Spacecraft
For his part, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Musk has "lost his mind" over the proposed tax bill that would eliminate tax exemptions for electric vehicles.
In response to the president's suggestion that the federal government strip Musk's company of its contracts, the Tesla CEO stated that he has ordered SpaceX to halt its Dragon spacecraft.
Musk wrote: "In light of the president's statement regarding the cancellation of my government contracts, SpaceX will begin to deactivate the Dragon spacecraft immediately."
The spacecraft, which can carry humans and cargo to space, has completed 51 missions, including 46 visits to the International Space Station, according to SpaceX. Dragon returned two astronauts to Earth earlier this year after they had been aboard the International Space Station for nearly 300 days, much longer than expected, after Boeing's Starliner spacecraft faced issues.
The bulk of the tens of billions in federal grants that SpaceX has received over the past decade comes from NASA. NASA has paid billions of dollars to SpaceX over the past decade to transport astronauts and supplies to and from the International Space Station.
In a statement sent to CBS News, NASA said it "will continue to implement the president's vision for the future of space. We will continue to work with our industry partners to ensure the president's goals in space are achieved."
Musk's electric vehicle company receives much less direct federal grants than SpaceX, but it earns billions of dollars indirectly each year from various state and federal government programs.
Ives wrote in a note to investors: "The rapidly deteriorating friendship, and now the major feud between Musk and Trump, is stunning and shocking to the market, raising significant concerns among Tesla investors about what lies ahead."
