أعلن جهاز المخابرات الوطني العراقي (السبت) عن اعتقال شبكة إجرامية حاولت تنفيذ عمليات اغتيال والإخلال بالأمن العام في البلاد، في إطار التصدي لكل المحاولات الرامية إلى زعزعة الأمن والاستقرار في العراق.
وذكر بيان لجهاز المخابرات العراقية أن جهاز المخابرات الوطني تمكن بالتنسيق مع القضاء العراقي من تنفيذ «عملية استباقية» أسفرت عن اعتقال شبكة إجرامية حاولت تنفيذ عمليات اغتيال والإخلال بالأمن العام في العراق، بناء على معلومات استخبارية دقيقة، ومتابعات ميدانية على صلة بمحاولة شروع بالقتل.
وأوضح بيان جهاز المخابرات العراقية، أن الشبكة الإجرامية استهدفت إحدى الإعلاميات خلال فبراير الماضي وأنه «تم التوصل من خلالها إلى أذرع الشبكة الداخلية وارتباطاتها الخارجية».
وشددت المخابرات العراقية على أنه بعد الحصول على الموافقات القضائية، وتحديد أماكن وجود عناصر الشبكة داخل العراق «تمت مداهمة أوكارهم واعتقالهم بعملية استباقية ومتزامنة في أكثر من محافظة».
وجدد جهاز المخابرات الوطني تأكيده على مواصلة التصدي لكل المحاولات الرامية إلى زعزعة الأمن والاستقرار في العراق، معاهداً الشعب العراقي على المضي بعزيمة صلبة في كشف وإحباط كل محاولة للعبث بأمن الوطن واستقراره.
ويُعد جهاز المخابرات الوطني العراقي، الذي تأسس بعد 2003، أحد الأجهزة الأمنية الرئيسية في العراق، ويتبع مباشرة لرئيس الوزراء، ويتولى الجهاز مهمات جمع المعلومات الاستخبارية، ومكافحة الإرهاب، وتتبع الشبكات الإجرامية التي تهدد الأمن القومي.
وخلال السنوات الأخيرة، برز الجهاز كقوة فعالة في تفكيك الخلايا الإرهابية، بما في ذلك تنظيم «داعش»، ومكافحة الجريمة المنظمة، بالتعاون مع القوات الأمنية العراقية وأحياناً التحالف الدولي بقيادة الولايات المتحدة.
The Iraqi National Intelligence Service announced on Saturday the arrest of a criminal network that attempted to carry out assassination operations and disrupt public security in the country, as part of efforts to counter all attempts aimed at destabilizing security and stability in Iraq.
A statement from the Iraqi Intelligence Service indicated that the National Intelligence Service, in coordination with the Iraqi judiciary, successfully executed a "preemptive operation" that resulted in the arrest of a criminal network attempting to carry out assassination operations and disrupt public security in Iraq, based on accurate intelligence information and field follow-ups related to an attempted murder.
The statement from the Iraqi Intelligence Service clarified that the criminal network targeted a media figure last February and that "through this, connections to the network's internal arms and their external links were uncovered."
The Iraqi intelligence emphasized that after obtaining judicial approvals and identifying the locations of the network's members within Iraq, "their hideouts were raided and they were arrested in a preemptive and simultaneous operation across multiple provinces."
The National Intelligence Service reiterated its commitment to continue countering all attempts aimed at destabilizing security and stability in Iraq, pledging to the Iraqi people to steadfastly pursue and thwart any attempt to tamper with the nation's security and stability.
The Iraqi National Intelligence Service, established after 2003, is one of the main security agencies in Iraq, directly reporting to the Prime Minister. The agency is responsible for gathering intelligence, combating terrorism, and tracking criminal networks that threaten national security.
In recent years, the agency has emerged as an effective force in dismantling terrorist cells, including the "ISIS" organization, and combating organized crime, in cooperation with Iraqi security forces and sometimes the international coalition led by the United States.
