The Israeli occupation army intensified its extermination war in northern Gaza, considering that the collapse of Hamas leadership and the division of the sector into something resembling "dominoes" would enable it to tighten control over the afflicted area, according to the newspaper "Maariv," which reported that Israel is searching for the new Hamas leader in Gaza, Az al-Din Haddad.
The Israeli army and the Shin Bet distributed this week leaflets in Gaza City bearing the image of Az al-Din Haddad, suggesting that his assassination would eliminate Hamas's military leadership.
The newspaper mentioned that the Prime Minister of the occupation, Benjamin Netanyahu, has set a timeline for operations in the sector, excluding the collapse of Hamas during the holiday period.
According to the newspaper, the only thing in Netanyahu's schedule that could disrupt his plans is a complete collapse of Hamas without a replacement to manage the sector and create a difficult security situation, prompting Netanyahu's government to impose an Israeli military administration in Gaza.
For his part, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir predicted today (Saturday) that the war in Gaza would not last indefinitely, stating: "We have an organized plan in Gaza, and we will conclude the battle in Beit Hanoun and Khan Younis," adding: "When we achieve our military objectives, I will say that Hamas has been defeated."
The website "Walla" reported today that an Israeli official said: "The army forces have made additional progress in controlling parts of Khan Younis city, while discussions continue about an imminent agreement that could stop the war in the sector."
According to the military source, most of the city is devoid of civilians. He added that the army is not only controlling the ground but is systematically destroying the infrastructure so that it cannot be used again by militants.
Palestinian sources confirmed that Israel is launching the fiercest airstrikes on the neighborhoods of Khan Younis to evacuate them, noting that the Khan Younis area has become almost empty due to the bombardment.
Medical sources reported that about 55 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours due to the intense Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas of the sector.
Local sources confirmed that Israeli forces targeted about 22 homes since last night, coinciding with the expansion of ground operations around the Indonesian hospital and the areas of the Sultans and Tal al-Zaatar, in addition to the town of Jabalia in the northern sector.
The Israeli army asked residents of these areas to evacuate their homes, a move observers considered a preparation for a new military operation, similar to what occurred in the "Moraj" axis in the city of Rafah to the south.
The intensity of Israeli artillery shelling increased in the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis in the southern sector, where artillery stationed in the towns of Khuza'a and Abasan east of Khan Younis fired shells towards the town of al-Qarara and the vicinity of Hamad Towers north of the city.
Paramedics confirmed that the occupation army intensified its shelling operations in those areas, while ground incursion operations in eastern Khan Younis have continued for more than two weeks, under the cover of intense air support from warplanes and drones, which are pursuing Palestinian evacuees.
