رداً على محاولة اغتيال بوتين.. روسيا تشن أكبر هجوم جوي على أوكرانيا

The Russian forces launched the largest airstrike since the outbreak of the war with Ukraine, which included 367 drone and missile attacks on Kyiv and other cities yesterday (Sunday), resulting in at least 12 deaths and dozens of injuries.

This broader attack comes in response to an assassination attempt on President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Kursk a few days ago via a drone strike.

Russian Air Defense Commander Yuri Dashkin revealed that the helicopter carrying Putin was caught in the center of a massive Ukrainian drone attack during his first visit to Kursk since Russia regained control over it.

Observers believe this is the reason for the Russian escalation in Ukraine since yesterday (Sunday), which coincided with the completion of the largest prisoner exchange operation between the two countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the United States to condemn the attack. He wrote on Telegram: "The silence of America and the rest of the world only encourages Putin."

Moscow announced the establishment of a buffer security zone after regaining control over the Kursk region bordering Ukraine. The Russian military confirmed that its forces are carrying out combat missions deep within Ukrainian territory from the Sumy side, in order to create the buffer security zone.

President Putin visited the Kursk region a few days ago and ordered the rapid establishment of a buffer zone to avoid a repeat of the Ukrainian incursion scenario.

For his part, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev confirmed that the buffer zone between Russia and Ukraine encompasses all Ukrainian territory, as long as military aid continues to be provided to the Ukrainian army.

Medvedev attached a video on his Telegram channel showing the boundaries of the buffer zone, marked in red, which included all of Ukraine's territory. At the end of the video, most of Ukraine's borders appear in red, with only a small area in blue near Poland.

Interior Minister Igor Klymenko stated that 12 people were killed and 60 others were injured, while regional authorities and rescue teams reported 13 deaths.

This attack comes at a time when Ukraine and Russia executed the third and final prisoner exchange operation, in which both sides exchanged 1,000 individuals each.
