Sources close to the matter have indicated that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to announce a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in the coming days, a move anticipated to be part of a broader deal that includes the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Sky News Arabia reported that the sources stated there are expectations for Trump to announce a ceasefire in Gaza within days, as part of a deal that includes the release of Israeli hostages.

On Sunday, Trump said he believes he has good news coming with Hamas regarding Gaza, stating, "We want to see if we can stop the fighting in Gaza." He added, "We have talked to Israel, and we want to see if we can stop this whole situation as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, sources within the U.S. administration reported that President Trump is pressuring the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the war, emphasizing his dissatisfaction with the ongoing conflict. The sources revealed that the U.S. administration has opened a channel of communication with Hamas through Palestinian-American businessman Bashar Bahbah.

They indicated that the concerned parties are preparing to resume indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas regarding a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire, as part of an initiative led by the United States through its special envoy, Steve Whitkoff.

Diplomatic sources disclosed that Washington has requested Tel Aviv to postpone the extensive ground operation and allow for an expansion of humanitarian aid delivery, aiming to create an atmosphere conducive to the resumption of negotiations, but Israel continues to commit daily crimes in Gaza.

An Israeli delegation is expected to arrive in Cairo today (Monday) to discuss the resumption of talks, but Israel has not officially announced this step yet.

The U.S. administration is seeking to reach a comprehensive and phased agreement, starting with the release of some prisoners, and including in its later stages the end of the war and the release of all prisoners held by Hamas, through the plan of U.S. envoy Steve Whitkoff.

The newspaper "Israel Hayom" reported that sources stated the U.S. administration refuses to abandon the diplomatic track, and that Washington believes that weakening Hamas's military structure and the increasing pressures it faces may open a rare political window to push the movement toward unprecedented concessions.

However, Hamas continues to reject the announced Israeli conditions for ending the war, which Netanyahu has confirmed, including the release of all hostages, both alive and deceased, the surrender of all weapons by Hamas, the departure of its leaders from the Gaza Strip, and the termination of any future role in governance.
