The Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chaired the session held by the Council of Ministers today in Riyadh.

At the beginning of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Council of Ministers on the contents of the phone call he received from the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, during which they reviewed the developments in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the necessity of immediately alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people, the complete Israeli withdrawal, and the importance of starting practical steps to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution.

The Council affirmed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's support for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and peace worldwide, reiterating in this regard its welcome of the agreement between Pakistan and Afghanistan for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to solidify lasting peace and stability between the two countries.

On the domestic front, the Ministry of Interior is implementing the provisions contained in the municipal real estate disposal regulations, concerning the investment of properties that have deeds in favor of the Ministry of Interior located within housing areas or training cities or designated for health, educational, residential, or club and hospitality facilities.

“King Salman Gateway” a Global Model in Urban Development

The Minister of Media, Salman bin Yusuf Al-Dosari, stated in his statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session that the Council of Ministers subsequently discussed development program plans in several government entities, particularly those related to the system of developmental projects, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the level of services and productivity, harnessing capabilities and various resources; leading to a bright future and sustainable development.

The Council congratulated in this context the launch of the “King Salman Gateway” project, which represents a qualitative leap in developing the infrastructure of the central area in Mecca, making it a global model in urban development and a major contributor to providing high-quality services to those visiting the Grand Mosque; in line with the objectives of the Guest of the Two Holy Mosques Program.

Enhancing Housing Supply and Achieving Real Estate Balance

The Council noted the ongoing executive steps to enhance housing supply and achieve real estate balance in various regions of the Kingdom; contributing to supporting the construction and development process and providing suitable and diverse options for citizens, in addition to attracting more investors and development companies to the Saudi market.

The Minister of Media indicated that the Council of Ministers considered the Kingdom's receipt of international awards from international organizations in the fields of open education, rural development, and rail transport; as a confirmation of the state's interest and its unlimited support for empowering those sectors and others to continue to excel in competitiveness and global leadership.

The Council praised the success of the Saudi International Railways Exhibition and Conference, which saw participation from 22 countries around the world in its second edition, and the signing of more than 50 contracts and agreements that will contribute to supporting the objectives of the national transport and logistics strategy.

Decisions:

The Council of Ministers reviewed the topics listed on its agenda, including topics studied by the Shura Council, and was briefed on the conclusions reached by both the Political and Security Affairs Council and the Economic and Development Affairs Council, the General Committee of the Council of Ministers, and the Experts Committee of the Council of Ministers regarding them. The Council concluded with the following:

- Authorizing the Minister of Foreign Affairs - or his representative - to discuss with the Sudanese side regarding a draft agreement to establish a Saudi-Sudanese Coordination Council and to sign it.

- Approving a headquarters agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Center for Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD).

- Approving a draft memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Higher School of Commerce and Business in the Republic of Italy for cooperation in the field of human capital development, and authorizing the Minister of Education - or his representative - to sign it.

- The Ministry of Interior is implementing the provisions contained in the municipal real estate disposal regulations, concerning the investment of properties that have deeds in favor of the Ministry of Interior located within housing areas or training cities or designated for health, educational, residential, or club and hospitality facilities.

- Approving the establishment of a branch of Strathclyde University in Riyadh.

- Approving the final accounts of the Asir Development Authority, the King Salman Global Center for the Arabic Language, and the National Program for the Development of the Information Technology Sector for previous financial years.

Appointments and Promotions:

Dr. Faisal bin Hamad Al-Suqair was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Ports, and the membership of Engineer Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al-Fuqaih and Dr. Abdulrahman bin Yusuf Al-Ali was renewed in the Board of Directors of the Authority.

Approval was given to promote Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Nasser to the position of (Office Manager) at the (Fifteenth) rank in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and to promote Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saad Al-Saif to the position of (Legal Advisor) at the (Fourteenth) rank in the Experts Committee of the Council of Ministers.

The Council of Ministers also reviewed several general topics listed on its agenda, including annual reports from the General Authority for Foreign Trade, the General Authority for Roads, the General Authority for Media Regulation, the Darin and Tarout Island Development Foundation, the National Center for Measuring the Performance of Public Agencies, the National Institute for Health Research, and the Financial Academy, and the Council took the necessary actions regarding those topics.
