أعلن البيت الأبيض أن ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، يعتزم زيارة واشنطن 18 نوفمبر الجاري.
وتعد هذه الزيارة الثانية للأمير محمد بن سلمان إلى العاصمة الأمريكية عقب زيارته الأولى في العام 2018 بناء على توجيه خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز.
وكان وزير الخارجية الأمير فيصل بن فرحان، تلقى اتصالاً هاتفياً من نظيره الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، الأحد، وجرى خلال الاتصال استعراض العلاقات الثنائية، وبحث مستجدات الأحداث في المنطقة.
وناقش الطرفان الجهود المبذولة حيال تلك المستجدات، وفقاً لبيان صادر عن وزارة الخارجية السعودية.
وزار الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب السعودية في شهر مايو الماضي، في أول زيارة خارجية له منذ إعلان فوزه بولاية رئاسية جديدة وتنصيبه في 20 يناير الماضي.
ووصف مراقبون الزيارة بأنها مؤشر على المكانة الجيوسياسية المتقدمة التي باتت تتمتع بها المملكة العربية السعودية، ليس فقط بوصفها لاعباً محورياً في استقرار المنطقة، بل أيضاً نظراً لثقلها الاقتصادي وتوجهاتها الإصلاحية.
معاهدة دفاعية وتعاون نووي
وتوقع وزير الداخلية الأمريكي دوغ بيرغم، (الأحد)، أن تتوصل الولايات المتحدة والمملكة العربية السعودية إلى اتفاق بشأن البرنامج النووي السعودي السلمي.
وقَرَنَ دوغ توقعاته بزيارة دولة رسمية من المقرر أن يقوم بها ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان إلى واشنطن في 18 نوفمبر الجاري.
وقال الوزير الأمريكي، على هامش مشاركته في حوار المنامة 2025: إن محادثات مكثفة مع المسؤولين السعوديين لا تزال جارية، متوقعاً «الكثير من النشاط» قبيل حلول موعد الزيارة.
وعبّر عن تفاؤله بقرب صدور «إعلانات كبيرة»، ولم يستبعد أن تشهد محادثات الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب وولي العهد التوقيع على اتفاق بين البلدين، في شأن التعاون النووي السلمي.
وكشفت مجلة «نيوزويك» الأمريكية، أن السعودية تفاوض إدارة ترمب على معاهدة دفاعية تلزم واشنطن بمعاملة أي هجوم على السعودية باعتباره تهديداً أمنياً للولايات المتحدة. وأفادت صحيفة «فايننشيال تايمز» البريطانية، أن الاتفاق السعودي - الأمريكي سيعمّق التعاون العسكري والاستخباري بين البلدين. وقالت، إنه ستكون لهذا الاتفاق انعكاسات كبيرة على استقرار منطقة الشرق الأوسط، والموقف الإستراتيجي العالمي لأمريكا.
وأضافت، أن المعاهدة بين البلدين تأتي نتيجة لرؤية الأمير محمد بن سلمان، التي تعتبر أن المعاهدة الأمنية تمثّل أولوية قصوى للسعودية.
ونسبت صحيفة «فايننشال تايمز» البريطانية الشهر الماضي لمصدر مسؤول في إدارة ترمب قوله: إن الجانبين يجريان محادثات بشأن «توقيع شيء ما» عندما يأتي ولي العهد إلى واشنطن. ووصفت الخارجية الأمريكية، في وقت سابق، التعاون الدفاعي السعودي - الأمريكي بأنه «أساس صلب لإستراتيجيتنا الإقليمية». وأكّدت، أن واشنطن ستواصل العمل مع المملكة لحل النزاعات، وتشجيع التكامل الإقليمي، وحرمان الإرهابيين من أي ملاذ آمن.
The White House announced that Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman intends to visit Washington on November 18.
This will be the second visit for Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the American capital following his first visit in 2018 at the direction of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from his American counterpart Marco Rubio on Sunday, during which they reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the latest developments in the region.
The two sides discussed the efforts being made regarding these developments, according to a statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
U.S. President Donald Trump visited Saudi Arabia last May, marking his first foreign visit since announcing his victory in a new presidential term and his inauguration on January 20.
Observers described the visit as an indicator of the advanced geopolitical status that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has gained, not only as a pivotal player in regional stability but also due to its economic weight and reformative directions.
Defensive Treaty and Nuclear Cooperation
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Doug Burgum predicted on Sunday that the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would reach an agreement regarding the peaceful Saudi nuclear program.
Burgum linked his expectations to an official state visit that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to make to Washington on November 18.
The American minister stated, on the sidelines of his participation in the Manama Dialogue 2025, that intensive talks with Saudi officials are still ongoing, expecting "a lot of activity" ahead of the visit.
He expressed optimism about the imminent announcement of "significant declarations," and did not rule out that discussions between President Donald Trump and the Crown Prince might result in the signing of an agreement between the two countries regarding peaceful nuclear cooperation.
U.S. magazine "Newsweek" revealed that Saudi Arabia is negotiating with the Trump administration on a defensive treaty that would obligate Washington to treat any attack on Saudi Arabia as a security threat to the United States. The British newspaper "Financial Times" reported that the Saudi-American agreement will deepen military and intelligence cooperation between the two countries. It stated that this agreement would have significant implications for the stability of the Middle East and America's global strategic position.
It added that the treaty between the two countries comes as a result of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's vision, which considers the security treaty to be a top priority for Saudi Arabia.
Last month, the British "Financial Times" attributed to a responsible source in the Trump administration saying that the two sides are in talks about "signing something" when the Crown Prince comes to Washington. The U.S. State Department previously described Saudi-American defense cooperation as "a solid foundation for our regional strategy." It confirmed that Washington will continue to work with the Kingdom to resolve conflicts, encourage regional integration, and deny terrorists any safe haven.
