تسعى الولايات المتحدة بكل جهودها الدبلوماسية والسياسية في الشرق الأوسط لإنقاذ الهدنة «الهشة» بين إسرائيل وحركة حماس في قطاع غزة، بعد أن باتت مهددة بالانهيار نتيجة الخروقات الإسرائيلية.
الحراك الأمريكي جاء في أعقاب مخاوف حقيقية داخل أروقة صناعة القرار من احتمالات انسحاب رئيس وزراء الاحتلال بنيامين نتنياهو من الاتفاق، خصوصاً مع استمرار القصف الإسرائيلي على أهداف داخل غزة.
ولعل ما يعكس حجم القلق الأمريكي على مصير الهدنة، هو مسارعة واشنطن بإرسال كل من نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس، والمبعوثين ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر، والمتواجدين حالياً في إسرائيل، مع الإعلان عن وصول وزير الخارجية ماركو روبيو إلى تل أبيب اليوم (الخميس).
وتأتي هذه التحركات وسط توتر وتصعيد إسرائيلي ليس في غزة فقط، بل في مناطق مختلفة في الإقليم، إذ تخشى واشنطن من انتقال شرارة العنف إلى الضفة الغربية المحتلة أو حدود لبنان، وهو ما يهدد بتقويض الاستقرار الإقليمي.
وهكذا، فإنه مع هشاشة الهدنة وتعقيدات الواقع الميداني، تتحرك الولايات المتحدة بمشاركة أطراف إقليمية في سباق مع الزمن لتثبيت التهدئة والمضي قدماً في تطبيق اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار وفتح الطريق أمام ترتيبات طويلة الأمد وصولاً إلى السلام العادل والشامل، وقيام الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة.
The United States is making every diplomatic and political effort in the Middle East to save the "fragile" truce between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, after it has become threatened with collapse due to Israeli violations.
The American initiative came in the wake of real concerns within decision-making circles about the possibility of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu withdrawing from the agreement, especially with the ongoing Israeli bombardment of targets inside Gaza.
What reflects the extent of American concern for the fate of the truce is Washington's swift action in sending both U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and envoys Steve Wittkoff and Jared Kushner, who are currently in Israel, along with the announcement of Secretary of State Marco Rubio's arrival in Tel Aviv today (Thursday).
These movements come amid Israeli tension and escalation not only in Gaza but also in various regions of the region, as Washington fears the spark of violence could spread to the occupied West Bank or the borders of Lebanon, which threatens to undermine regional stability.
Thus, with the fragility of the truce and the complexities of the ground reality, the United States is moving, in collaboration with regional parties, in a race against time to stabilize the ceasefire and move forward with the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, paving the way for long-term arrangements leading to a just and comprehensive peace and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
