من أرض القصيم، حيث نشأ الشيخ صالح بن فوزان بن عبد الله الفوزان في بلدة الشماسية عام 1935، بدأت رحلة عالمٍ ربّانيّ جمع بين أصالة الفقه ونور الاعتدال، حتى تكللت مسيرته اليوم بتعيينه «مفتياً عاماً للمملكة العربية السعودية» ورئيساً لهيئة كبار العلماء، ورئيساً عاماً للبحوث العلمية والإفتاء، متوّجاً بذلك مسيرة تمتد لأكثر من سبعة عقود من العطاء العلمي والإفتائي المتزن.
خطوات في درب العلم
في بيئة يسودها الإيمان والبساطة، خطا الشيخ الفوزان أولى خطواته في درب العلم بعد أن فقد والده صغيراً، فوجد في القرآن الكريم أنيساً وفي حلقات المساجد منطلقاً. فحفظ كتاب الله على يد إمام مسجده في الشماسية، ثم واصل تعليمه في المدارس الحكومية، حتى التحق بالمعهد العلمي ببريدة عام 1373هـ كأحد أوائل طلابه.
تخرّج في كلية الشريعة بالرياض عام 1381هـ، ثم حصل على الماجستير والدكتوراه من جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية، متناولاً في أبحاثه قضايا دقيقة في الفقه الإسلامي كالمواريث وأحكام الأطعمة، ليثبت مبكراً قدرته على الجمع بين الدقة الأكاديمية و فقه الواقع.
مع كبار العلماء
تكوّنت شخصية الشيخ الفوزان العلمية على يد نخبة من أعلام الأمة في القرن الماضي، فقد تتلمذ على الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن باز، والشيخ محمد الأمين الشنقيطي، والشيخ عبدالله بن حميد، والشيخ عبدالرزاق عفيفي.
ومن منابرهم نهل علماً ومنهجاً، حتى غدا هو نفسه معلماً لجيل من الدعاة والعلماء الذين تخرّجوا على يديه في الجامعات والمحافل العلمية، ناقلين إرثه في التوازن والوسطية.
ثقة الدولة وعلوّ المنزلة
تولّى الشيخ الفوزان خلال مسيرته عدداً من المناصب التي عكست مكانته في الساحة الدينية والعلمية، فكان عضواً في «هيئة كبار العلماء»، وعضواً في «اللجنة الدائمة للبحوث العلمية والإفتاء» منذ عام 1992، ومديراً لـ«المعهد العالي للقضاء»، وأستاذاً في «كلية الشريعة» و«كلية أصول الدين» بجامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية، إلى جانب إمامته وخطابته في جامع الأمير متعب بن عبدالعزيز بالرياض.
وفي كل هذه المناصب، ظل نموذجاً للعالم الذي يجمع بين العمق الفقهي والالتزام المؤسسي، وبين صرامة الدليل وسعة الصدر.
مؤلفات راسخة وأثر باقٍ
لم يكن الشيخ الفوزان خطيباً أو أستاذاً فحسب، بل كان أحد أبرز المؤلفين في الفقه والعقيدة في العصر الحديث. من مؤلفاته؛ «الملخص الفقهي» الذي تبنّى أسلوباً ميسّراً لطلاب العلم، و«عقيدة التوحيد وبيان ما يضادها»، و«إعانة المستفيد بشرح كتاب التوحيد»، و«شرح العقيدة الواسطية»، و«شرح مسائل الجاهلية».
كما عُرف بمشاركاته المستمرة في برنامج «نور على الدرب» بإذاعة القرآن الكريم، ومثّل صوته مرجعاً للملايين من المستفتين، جامعاً بين الحكمة في الفتوى والوضوح في البيان.
العالِم الذي جمع العلم بالحكمة
يمثّل الشيخ الفوزان اليوم نموذجاً للعالِم الذي حمل الرسالة الشرعية بأمانة، وحافظ على منهج السلف مع انفتاح على قضايا العصر. فجمع بين الوقار والعلم، وبين الحزم والاعتدال، ليكون مرجعاً دينياً موثوقاً ليس في المملكة فحسب، بل في العالم الإسلامي بأسره.
وبتولّيه منصب «مفتي المملكة»، تتجدد مسيرة من العلم والعمل، يؤكد من خلالها أن عطاء العلماء الحقيقيين ممتد ليُورّثوا للأمة مع العلم نوراً باقياً إلى الأبد.
From the land of Al-Qassim, where Sheikh Saleh bin Fawzan bin Abdullah Al-Fawzan was born in the town of Al-Shamasiyah in 1935, began the journey of a divine scholar who combined the authenticity of jurisprudence with the light of moderation, culminating today in his appointment as the "Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," President of the Council of Senior Scholars, and General President of Scientific Research and Ifta, thus crowning a career that extends over seven decades of balanced scientific and fatwa contributions.
Steps on the Path of Knowledge
In an environment dominated by faith and simplicity, Sheikh Al-Fawzan took his first steps on the path of knowledge after losing his father at a young age, finding solace in the Holy Quran and a starting point in the mosque circles. He memorized the Book of God under the guidance of the imam of his mosque in Al-Shamasiyah, then continued his education in public schools until he joined the Scientific Institute in Buraidah in 1373 AH as one of its first students.
He graduated from the College of Sharia in Riyadh in 1381 AH, then obtained his master's and doctorate degrees from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, addressing in his research intricate issues in Islamic jurisprudence such as inheritance and food rulings, proving early on his ability to combine academic precision with the jurisprudence of reality.
With the Senior Scholars
Sheikh Al-Fawzan's scholarly personality was shaped by a select group of the nation's scholars in the last century, having studied under Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz, Sheikh Muhammad Amin Al-Shanqeeti, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamid, and Sheikh Abdulrazak Afifi.
From their platforms, he drew knowledge and methodology, until he himself became a teacher for a generation of preachers and scholars who graduated under his guidance in universities and scientific forums, carrying forward his legacy of balance and moderation.
The State's Trust and High Status
Throughout his career, Sheikh Al-Fawzan held several positions that reflected his status in the religious and scientific arena. He was a member of the "Council of Senior Scholars," a member of the "Permanent Committee for Scientific Research and Ifta" since 1992, Director of the "Higher Judicial Institute," and a professor at the "College of Sharia" and "College of Fundamentals of Religion" at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, in addition to his role as an imam and preacher at the Prince Muteb bin Abdulaziz Mosque in Riyadh.
In all these positions, he remained a model of a scholar who combines deep jurisprudence with institutional commitment, between the rigor of evidence and broad-mindedness.
Established Works and Lasting Impact
Sheikh Al-Fawzan was not only a preacher or a professor but also one of the most prominent authors in jurisprudence and creed in modern times. Among his works are; "The Concise Jurisprudence," which adopts an accessible style for students of knowledge, "The Creed of Monotheism and Explanation of What Contradicts It," "Assisting the Beneficiary by Explaining the Book of Monotheism," "Explanation of the Wasitiyyah Creed," and "Explanation of the Issues of Ignorance."
He was also known for his continuous participation in the program "Noor Ala Al-Darb" on the Quran Radio, and his voice became a reference for millions of questioners, combining wisdom in fatwa with clarity in expression.
The Scholar Who Combined Knowledge with Wisdom
Today, Sheikh Al-Fawzan represents a model of a scholar who carried the religious message with integrity and maintained the methodology of the predecessors while being open to contemporary issues. He combined dignity and knowledge, between firmness and moderation, to be a trusted religious reference not only in the Kingdom but throughout the Islamic world.
With his assumption of the position of "Mufti of the Kingdom," a journey of knowledge and action is renewed, through which he affirms that the true contribution of genuine scholars extends to bequeath to the nation, along with knowledge, a lasting light forever.
