احتفى وفد منظومة التقنية والابتكار والفضاء برئاسة وزير الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات المهندس عبدالله السواحة، والطلاب السعوديين في جامعة كاليفورنيا بيركلي بالعالم السعودي البروفيسور الحائز على جائزة نوبل في الكيمياء لعام 2025 عمر ياغي؛ تقديراً لإسهاماته العلمية الرائدة التي رسخّت حضور المملكة في المشهد العلمي والبحثي العالمي.
ونقل السواحة تحيات وتبريكات القيادة للبروفيسور عمر ياغي على المنجز التاريخي الذي حققه للوطن وللعالم العربي والإسلامي، كما اطلع على أبحاث البروفيسور ياغي في الكيمياء والشراكة البحثية التي تجمع بين مدينة الملك عبدالعزيز للعلوم والتقنية مع جامعة كاليفورنيا بيركلي.
وألقى البروفيسور ياغي كلمة استعرض فيها رحلته العلمية وتجربته في مجالات البحث والابتكار، مؤكداً أن دعم القيادة للعلم والعلماء هو المحرك الأساسي لنهضة الوطن وتقدمه.
وأشار البروفيسور ياغي إلى أن دعم وتمكين ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء رئيس اللجنة العليا للبحث والتطوير والابتكار ساهم في دعمه بمسيرته العلمية والبحثية، مشدداً على دور المبتعثين في مواصلة المسيرة وصناعة مستقبل المملكة القائم على المعرفة والابتكار.
من جانبه، عبر السواحة عن فخره واعتزازه بما يحققه أبناء وبنات الوطن من تميز أكاديمي وبحثي في أرقى الجامعات العالمية، مؤكداً أن هذه المنجزات ما كانت لتتحقق لولا الدعم غير المحدود من القيادة وحرصها على تمكين الكفاءات الوطنية واستثمار طاقاتها في مسيرة التنمية والتقدم. واختتم السواحة كلمته بالإشادة بجهود الطلاب السعوديين المبتعثين، مؤكداً أنهم يمثلون طليعة وطنية تحمل رسالة العلم والمعرفة، ويسهمون بإنجازاتهم في بناء اقتصاد وطني متقدم يقوم على الإبداع والابتكار، ويرسّخ مكانة المملكة في مصاف الدول الرائدة عالمياً.

The delegation of the Technology, Innovation, and Space System, headed by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Abdullah Al-Swaha, along with Saudi students at the University of California, Berkeley, celebrated the Saudi scientist, Professor Omar Yaghi, the Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry for 2025; in recognition of his pioneering scientific contributions that have solidified the Kingdom's presence in the global scientific and research landscape.
Al-Swaha conveyed the leadership's greetings and congratulations to Professor Omar Yaghi for the historic achievement he accomplished for the nation and the Arab and Islamic world.
