أمير المنطقة الشرقية يدشّن حملة «الشرقية وردية 17» للكشف المبكر عن سرطان الثدي بجامعة الإمام

The Prince of the Eastern Province, Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, today (Wednesday) launched the awareness campaign "Eastern Province is Pink 17," organized by the Saudi Cancer Society in the Eastern Province with community participation from 100 governmental and private entities, aimed at raising awareness and educating about early detection of breast cancer.

The Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Cancer Society, Mai Al-Jabr, confirmed in her speech during the celebration that the "Eastern Province is Pink 17" campaign has seen qualitative improvements to enhance its community impact, achieving a leap in its targets coinciding with the beginning of October 2025, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. She noted that the society has worked to expand the scope of community participation to reach 100 governmental and private entities, an increase from 80 entities last year, which broadens the campaign's impact and achieves its goals. Additionally, the hours of awareness for 2025 have increased to 300 hours, compared to 175 hours previously, including workshops and interactive lectures. She pointed out that the society has raised the bar for the targeted views for electronic awareness from one million views in previous years to 10 million views across various digital platforms.

Al-Jabr indicated that the society has managed to increase the number of available testing points to reach 15 new locations throughout the Eastern Province, aiming to facilitate access to early screening services. She added that the campaign has received generous support and exemplary partnerships, most notably from Saudi Aramco, which provided substantial support in the form of two fully equipped mobile units to be added to the society's fleet of mobile clinics targeting villages, hamlets, and governorates in the region.

Al-Jabr concluded her speech by stating that the blessed launch of the "Eastern Province is Pink" campaign is a testament to the interest of the wise leadership and the support and follow-up from the Prince of the Eastern Province for charitable work, affirming the society's commitment to strengthening efforts with Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University and the medical city at the university, in addition to the significant role of the Ministry of Health represented by the Eastern Health Cluster.

The President of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, Dr. Fahd Al-Harbi, explained that the "Eastern Province is Pink" campaign has become a national model in sustainability and impact, taking place within a framework of constructive integration between Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University and the Saudi Cancer Society.

He added that with the launch of the new version of the campaign, the university renews its pledge and commitment to work on establishing health awareness in the Eastern Province, alongside emphasizing the importance of early detection of breast cancer as one of the major health issues that receives attention from the wise leadership and significant concern from health sectors. He pointed out the university's engagement with this important annual event through the implementation of a rich bundle of specialized quality programs to contribute through its medical, academic, research, and service expertise to fulfill its community duty to the fullest.

Dr. Al-Harbi concluded his speech by expressing gratitude and appreciation to the Prince of the Eastern Province for sponsoring the launch of the "Eastern Province is Pink" campaign, and he praised the efforts made by the Saudi Cancer Society to ensure the success of the campaign.

The Prince of the Eastern Province also witnessed the signing of several agreements between the Saudi Cancer Society and various entities, and he honored the supporters and partners of success.
