تشارك المملكة، دول العالم في الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للسياحة الذي يوافق السابع والعشرين من سبتمبر كل عام، بهدف رفع مستوى الوعي بأهمية القطاع السياحي وقيمته الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية والسياسية، وإبراز دوره في دعم مسيرة التنمية المستدامة عبر الفعاليات والمؤتمرات والمعارض العالمية.
وتبرز السياحة بوصفها قوة ناعمة قادرة على إعادة تشكيل الاقتصادات والمجتمعات، من خلال توسعة فرص العمل، وتطوير البنية التحتية، وبناء جسور التفاهم بين الثقافات، حيث أولت المملكة هذا القطاع أولوية كبرى ضمن مستهدفات رؤيتها التنموية، عبر استثماره في تعزيز التنمية الشاملة وفتح آفاق رحبة أمام الزوار بما يعزز ثقافة السفر والتنقل.
وتسهم السياحة في مد جسور التواصل بين الشعوب، والحفاظ على التقاليد واستعادة التراث الثقافي، فيما يبرز أثرها الاقتصادي من خلال الإنفاق الاستهلاكي وسلاسل الإنتاج المرتبطة بها، حيث بلغت مساهمة قطاع السفر والسياحة في الاقتصاد العالمي 10.9 تريليون دولار أمريكي خلال 2024، بما يعكس مكانته كركيزة أساسية للاقتصاد العالمي.
ويشمل الأثر المباشر للقطاع توفير وظائف في الفنادق وشركات الطيران والمطاعم، إضافة إلى فرص غير مباشرة في قطاعات أخرى مثل الزراعة والصناعات الغذائية والنقل والبنية التحتية، فيما توسعت أنماط السياحة الحديثة لتشمل مجالات متنوعة كالسياحة الرياضية والشاطئية والثقافية، التي تتيح للزوار استكشاف تاريخ الشعوب وعاداتها وفنونها المتعددة.

Tourism stands out as a soft power capable of reshaping economies and societies by expanding job opportunities, developing infrastructure, and building bridges of understanding between cultures. The Kingdom has prioritized this sector within the targets of its developmental vision by investing in enhancing comprehensive development and opening wide horizons for visitors, thereby promoting a culture of travel and mobility.
Tourism contributes to bridging communication between peoples, preserving traditions, and restoring cultural heritage, while its economic impact is highlighted through consumer spending and the production chains associated with it. The contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the global economy reached 10.9 trillion US dollars in 2024, reflecting its status as a fundamental pillar of the global economy.
The direct impact of the sector includes providing jobs in hotels, airlines, and restaurants, in addition to indirect opportunities in other sectors such as agriculture, food industries, transportation, and infrastructure.
