أعلنت جامعة ستانفورد الأمريكية إدراج اسم الدكتور حمود بن حسن الصميلي (أستاذ الفيزياء المشارك وعضو هيئة التدريس بجامعة الملك خالد)، ضمن قائمة أفضل 2% من العلماء الأكثر تميزًا وتأثيرًا على مستوى العالم لعام 2025 في تخصص الفيزياء. ويأتي هذا الإنجاز العلمي المرموق تتويجًا لمسيرة بحثية حافلة بالعطاء والإنجازات الأكاديمية.
يستند هذا التصنيف العالمي المرموق، الذي صدر تحديثه الأخير خلال شهر أغسطس الماضي، إلى قاعدة بيانات استشهادات علمية ضخمة صادرة عن جامعة ستانفورد بالتعاون مع دار النشر الأكاديمية «إلسيفير». ويعتمد التصنيف على مجموعة من المؤشرات العلمية الدقيقة، من أبرزها عدد الاستشهادات البحثية، وجودة المجلات العلمية التي نُشرت فيها الأبحاث، إضافة إلى التأثير العلمي للباحث في مجاله وتنوع إنتاجه البحثي. ويهدف هذا التصنيف إلى تسليط الضوء على العلماء الذين أسهمت أعمالهم في تطوير المعرفة الإنسانية وفتح آفاق جديدة في ميادينهم التخصصية.
ويمتلك الدكتور الصميلي سجلًا متميزًا من الإنجازات الأكاديمية والبحثية، إذ يشغل حاليًا منصب أستاذ مشارك في قسم الفيزياء بجامعة الملك خالد، وسبق أن تولى رئاسة قسم الفيزياء بكلية العلوم في الجامعة، كما ترأس الجمعية السعودية للعلوم الفيزيائية لفترة سابقة، ما يعكس حضوره القيادي في المجتمع الأكاديمي السعودي. وتجاوز رصيد الدكتور الصميلي من الأبحاث العلمية 160 بحثًا محكّمًا نُشرت في مجلات علمية مرموقة، تناولت موضوعات متقدمة في مجالات الفيزياء المختلفة، ما جعله من الأسماء البارزة على المستويين المحلي والدولي.
وفي سياق خبراته البحثية العالمية، عمل الدكتور الصميلي باحثًا لمدة عامين في مختبر أرجون القومي الأمريكي التابع لوزارة الطاقة الأمريكية وجامعة شيكاغو في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، إذ أسهمت تلك التجربة في تعزيز خبرته الدولية وإثراء إنتاجه العلمي، كما أتاحت له فرصة التعاون مع نخبة من العلماء والباحثين في أحد أبرز المراكز البحثية في العالم.
وأعرب الدكتور الصميلي عن عميق امتنانه لكل من دعمه في مسيرته البحثية، وقال: «هذا التكريم يعكس ثمرة عمل جماعي وجهود متواصلة، وأهديه لوطني وجامعتي، التي وفرت لي بيئة أكاديمية وبحثية محفزة» ، مضيفًا: «أهدي هذا الإنجاز إلى والدتي الغالية التي انتقلت إلى رحمة الله، فهي مصدر إلهامي الأول وداعمي الدائم طوال حياتي العلمية والعملية». وأكد أن هذا التكريم يمثل وفاءً لذكراها وتقديرًا لدعواتها وتشجيعها المستمر.

Dr. Al-Sumaily has an outstanding record of academic and research achievements, currently holding the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at King Khalid University. He previously served as the head of the Department of Physics at the College of Science at the university and has also chaired the Saudi Society for Physics Sciences for a previous term, reflecting his leadership presence in the Saudi academic community. Dr. Al-Sumaily's portfolio of scientific research exceeds 160 peer-reviewed papers published in prestigious scientific journals, covering advanced topics in various fields of physics, making him one of the prominent names at both local and international levels.
In the context of his global research experiences, Dr. Al-Sumaily worked as a researcher for two years at the Argonne National Laboratory affiliated with the U.S. Department of Energy and the University of Chicago in the United States.
