تحوّل تسرب غاز إلى كارثة مروعة في مدينة دالاس بولاية تكساس الأمريكية، بعدما أدى انفجار هائل إلى تدمير مبنى سكني بالكامل، مخلفًا ما لا يقل عن ثلاثة قتلى وخمسة مصابين، وسط مشاهد وصفت بالمرعبة.
ووفقًا لما أوردته شبكة «CBS News»، وقع الانفجار في مبنى «إل ريكاردو» السكني الواقع شمال حديقة حيوان دالاس، حيث دوّى الانفجار بقوة قبل أن تندلع النيران في أرجاء المبنى، متسببًا في انهيار أجزاء واسعة منه.
وعلى الفور، استنفرت السلطات الأمريكية فرقها الميدانية، إذ دفعت بعشرات سيارات الإطفاء والإنقاذ إلى الموقع، بينما شارك نحو 120 عنصرًا من رجال الإطفاء في عمليات السيطرة على الحريق والبحث بين الأنقاض.
وسرعان ما اجتاحت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي مقاطع مصورة أظهرت حجم الدمار الذي خلفه الانفجار، فيما كشفت صور جوية عن مبنى شبه مدمر تتصاعد منه ألسنة اللهب وسحب كثيفة من الدخان الأسود.
ورغم نجاح فرق الإطفاء في احتواء الحريق، فإن المهمة لم تنتهِ بسهولة، إذ أعلنت السلطات ظهور بؤر نارية متفرقة اشتعلت مجددًا أثناء عمليات تفتيش الأنقاض والبحث داخل المبنى المنهار المكوّن من طابقين.
وتواصل فرق الطوارئ عملها في الموقع وسط مخاوف من ارتفاع حصيلة الضحايا، بينما تتجه التحقيقات الأولية إلى أن تسرب الغاز كان السبب الرئيسي وراء الانفجار المدمر.
A gas leak turned into a horrific disaster in Dallas, Texas, after a massive explosion completely destroyed a residential building, leaving at least three dead and five injured, amidst scenes described as terrifying.
According to CBS News, the explosion occurred in the "El Ricardo" residential building located north of the Dallas Zoo, where the blast was heard loudly before flames erupted throughout the building, causing large sections of it to collapse.
Immediately, U.S. authorities mobilized their field teams, dispatching dozens of fire and rescue vehicles to the site, while about 120 firefighters participated in efforts to control the fire and search through the rubble.
Quickly, social media was flooded with videos showing the extent of the destruction caused by the explosion, while aerial images revealed a nearly destroyed building with flames and thick plumes of black smoke rising from it.
Although firefighting teams succeeded in containing the fire, the task did not end easily, as authorities announced the emergence of scattered hotspots that reignited during the search operations through the rubble and inside the two-story collapsed building.
Emergency teams continue their work at the site amid fears of an increasing death toll, while preliminary investigations indicate that the gas leak was the main cause of the devastating explosion.
