شاركت البعثة الدائمة للمملكة لدى منظمة الأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الدولية في جنيف، بالحوار التفاعلي بشأن تقرير بعثة تقصّي الحقائق عن حالة حقوق الإنسان في السودان.
وجدّدت البعثة، في بيان ألقاه مدير عام الإدارة العامة للشؤون الإنسانية في وزارة الخارجية الدكتور سالم القحطاني، تأكيدها على موقفها الراسخ في دعم جمهورية السودان الشقيقة وشعبها الكريم، وشدّدت على أهمية حماية المدنيين والعاملين في مجال الإغاثة، وأكّدت ضرورة تغليب مصلحة الشعب السوداني ووقف النزاع حفاظا على مؤسسات الدولة ووحدتها وسيادتها وأمنها، مشيرة إلى استضافة المملكة لمحادثات جدة بين طرفي الأزمة السودانية، وما نتج عنها من «إعلان جدة» بتاريخ 11 مايو 2023، الذي نصّ بوضوح على الالتزام بحماية المدنيين وضمان وصول المساعدات الإنسانية.
وأكّدت المملكة رفضها أي إجراءات أو خطوات خارج إطار المؤسسات الرسمية السودانية، وعلى مواصلة جهودها الدبلوماسية بالتعاون مع الشركاء الإقليميين والدوليين، داعية المجتمع الدولي إلى الاضطلاع بمسؤولياته في دعم السودان ومساندة شعبه على تجاوز هذه المرحلة الحرجة.
وقدّمت المملكة، في هذا السياق، خالص تعازيها ومواساتها لحكومة جمهورية السودان الشقيقة وشعبها الكريم، في ضحايا كارثة الانزلاق الأرضي بجبل مرة، وأعربت عن تضامنها الكامل مع السودان وشعبه، وصادق أمنياتها أن ينعم بالأمن والرخاء والاستقرار.
The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva participated in the interactive dialogue regarding the report of the fact-finding mission on the human rights situation in Sudan.
The mission, in a statement delivered by the Director General of the Humanitarian Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Salem Al-Qahtani, reiterated its firm position in supporting the sisterly Republic of Sudan and its noble people. It emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and relief workers and stressed the necessity of prioritizing the interests of the Sudanese people and halting the conflict to preserve the state's institutions, unity, sovereignty, and security. It pointed out the Kingdom's hosting of the Jeddah talks between the parties to the Sudanese crisis and the resulting "Jeddah Declaration" dated May 11, 2023, which clearly stated the commitment to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.
The Kingdom affirmed its rejection of any actions or steps outside the framework of the official Sudanese institutions and its commitment to continue its diplomatic efforts in cooperation with regional and international partners, calling on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in supporting Sudan and assisting its people in overcoming this critical phase.
In this context, the Kingdom extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the Government of the sisterly Republic of Sudan and its noble people for the victims of the landslide disaster in Jebel Marra. It expressed its full solidarity with Sudan and its people, along with its sincere wishes for security, prosperity, and stability.
