The Cabinet approved amendments to the organization of the Saudi Bar Association, which included the cancellation of the election of 5 members of the Board of Directors through the General Assembly, to be appointed by a decision from the Minister of Justice according to specific conditions.
According to the amendments published in the newspaper "Um Al-Qura," Article Seven related to the General Election Committee, which was responsible for overseeing the elections of the association and announcing their results, has been removed. Additionally, Paragraph Six of Article Eight, which stipulated the election of 5 essential members of the Board of Directors, has been canceled, with the stipulation that they will be appointed by the Minister of Justice, while maintaining the previous election conditions as a requirement for appointment, the most notable of which is the regular payment of membership fees over the last 3 years and the absence of a final disciplinary decision against the member.
The amendments included the addition of a representative from the Ministry of Investment to the Board of Directors, and the term of the council was set to 3 years, with the prohibition of appointing the five concerned members for more than two terms.
