أطلقت وزارة الصحة حملتها الرقابية على مخالفة صرف أدوية إنقاص الوزن دون وصفة طبية، وذلك ضمن جهودها في الرقابة على الأدوية الوصفية، تعزيزًا لسلامة المرضى، والحد من المخاطر الصحية الناجمة عن الممارسات غير المهنية في صرف الأدوية، وضمان التزام الممارسين الصحيين والمنشآت الصيدلانية بالأنظمة المعتمدة للحفاظ على صحة المستفيدين.
وحذرت الوزارة من الآثار الصحية الخطيرة المحتملة لاستخدام هذه الأدوية دون إشراف ووصفة طبية، ومنها زيادة معدل ضربات القلب، انخفاض سكر الدم، والتهاب البنكرياس، كما قد يتسبب الاستخدام العشوائي لها أو طويل الأمد، بمشكلات صحية مزمنة مثل اضطرابات الجهاز الهضمي، وارتفاع خطر ارتجاع الوزن بعد التوقف عن العلاج.
ودعت جميع أفراد المجتمع إلى الالتزام بالممارسات الصحية السليمة عبر استشارة الطبيب المختص قبل استخدام أدوية إنقاص الوزن، وحثّت على عدم شراء أو استخدام أو تناول أي أدوية يتم الترويج لها دون وصفة طبية معتمدة، كما أن وصف هذه الأدوية يجب أن يتم وفق الأصول الطبية بوصفة معتمدة.
ونبهت «الصحة» على ضرورة التزام جميع الممارسين الصحيين والمنشآت الصيدلانية بالتعليمات والضوابط التنظيمية، والتقيد التام بأنظمة صرف الأدوية، مؤكدةً مواصلة تنفيذ جولاتها الرقابية، واتخاذ الإجراءات النظامية بحق المخالفين، تصل إلى السجن 6 أشهر وإلغاء الترخيص وغرامة مالية 100 ألف ريال، داعيةً إلى الإبلاغ عن أي تجاوزات أو مخالفات في صرف هذه الأدوية، لضمان حماية الصحة العامة وتعزيز سلامة المرضى.
The Ministry of Health has launched its oversight campaign against the dispensing of weight loss medications without a prescription, as part of its efforts to monitor prescription medications, enhance patient safety, reduce health risks resulting from unprofessional practices in dispensing medications, and ensure compliance by healthcare practitioners and pharmaceutical establishments with the approved regulations to maintain the health of beneficiaries.
The ministry warned of the potential serious health effects of using these medications without supervision and a prescription, including increased heart rate, low blood sugar, and pancreatitis. Additionally, random or long-term use may lead to chronic health issues such as gastrointestinal disorders and a higher risk of weight regain after discontinuing treatment.
The ministry called on all members of the community to adhere to sound health practices by consulting a specialist doctor before using weight loss medications, and urged them not to purchase, use, or consume any medications promoted without an approved prescription. Furthermore, the prescription of these medications should be done according to medical standards with an approved prescription.
The Ministry of Health emphasized the necessity for all healthcare practitioners and pharmaceutical establishments to comply with the instructions and regulatory controls, and to fully adhere to the medication dispensing regulations. It confirmed its commitment to continue its oversight rounds and take legal action against violators, which may include imprisonment for up to 6 months, revocation of licenses, and a financial penalty of 100,000 riyals. It also called for reporting any violations or breaches in the dispensing of these medications to ensure the protection of public health and enhance patient safety.
