إنفاذاً لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، وصل أمس (الإثنين) إلى مطار الملك خالد الدولي بمدينة الرياض، التوأم الملتصق الجامايكي «أزاريا وأزورا إيلسون» برفقة ذويهما، قادمين من جمهورية جامايكا على متن طائرة الإخلاء الطبي التابعة لوزارة الدفاع، ونُقل التوأم فور وصولهما إلى مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال في مدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني؛ لدراسة حالتهما والنظر في إمكانية إجراء عملية فصلهما.
ورفع المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الطبي والجراحي للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة، أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان إلى القيادة على هذه المبادرة التي تجسد ما تتحلى به المملكة من إمكانات طبية متفوقة وحس إنساني كبير تجاه الفئات المحتاجة حول العالم، وحرصها على مد يد العون للأطفال من مختلف الجنسيات الذين يعانون من حالات طبية معقدة، مشيراً إلى أن الفريق الطبي السعودي يتمتع بخبرة تراكمية كبيرة مكنته من إجراء العديد من عمليات فصل التوائم بنجاح؛ ما يجعل المملكة مرجعاً عالميّاً في هذا المجال.
وعبّر ذوو التوأم الملتصق الجامايكي عن خالص امتنانهم وتقديرهم للمملكة حكومة وشعباً على ما لقوه من حفاوة استقبال وكرم ضيافة، وعلى الاستجابة السريعة لحالة التوأم.
In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the conjoined Jamaican twins "Azaria and Azura Elson" arrived yesterday (Monday) at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, accompanied by their family, coming from Jamaica on a medical evacuation flight operated by the Ministry of Defense. The twins were immediately transferred upon their arrival to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard to assess their condition and consider the possibility of separating them.
The General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works and Head of the Medical and Surgical Team for the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to the leadership for this initiative, which embodies the Kingdom's superior medical capabilities and great humanitarian sense towards the needy around the world, and its commitment to helping children of various nationalities suffering from complex medical conditions. He pointed out that the Saudi medical team has extensive cumulative experience that has enabled it to successfully perform many separation surgeries for conjoined twins, making the Kingdom a global reference in this field.
The family of the conjoined Jamaican twins expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom, both government and people, for the warm welcome and generous hospitality they received, and for the swift response to the twins' case.
