إنفاذًا لتوجيهات خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود، بدأ الفريق الطبي والجراحي التابع للبرنامج السعودي للتوائم الملتصقة بقيادة المشرف العام على مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية رئيس الفريق الدكتور عبدالله بن عبدالعزيز الربيعة صباح اليوم، عملية فصل التوأم الملتصق السوري «سيلين وإيلين» عبدالمنعم الشبلي، وذلك في مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بمدينة الملك عبدالعزيز الطبية بوزارة الحرس الوطني في مدينة الرياض.
وأوضح الدكتور عبدالله الربيعة في تصريحٍ لوكالة الأنباء السعودية، أن أُسرة التوأم الملتصق السوري «سيلين وإيلين» كانوا لاجئين لدى الجمهورية اللبنانية، وحملت والدتهما بتوأمٍ من 3 أجنة منهما طفلتان ملتصقتان وطفل سليم وغير ملتصق، وتم ولادتهما بتاريخ 28 فبراير 2024 بعملية قيصرية في مستشفى رفيق الحريري بمدينة بيروت، مشيرًا إلى أن التوأم يبلغان من العمر سنة و(5) أشهر، ويبلغ وزنهما مجتمعين (14) كيلوغرامًا.
وأبان أن التوأم الملتصق السوري، قد وصلتا إلى السعودية بتاريخ 29 ديسمبر 2024 بالتعاون مع وزارتي الخارجية، والدفاع، وتم إدخالهما مستشفى الملك عبدالله التخصصي للأطفال بوزارة الحرس الوطني، وبعد عدة اجتماعات للفريق الطبي وإجراء فحوصات موسعة ودقيقة للتوأم، تبين أنهما تلتصقان في منطقة أسفل الصدر والبطن، وتشتركان بغشاء القلب والكبد مع احتمال اشتراكهما أيضًا بالأمعاء، وقرر الفريق الطبي بناءً على ذلك إجراء عملية لتمديد الجلد بوضع بالونات طبية تحت الجلد لتكبير حجمه ليتمكن الفريق الجراحي من تغطية الجراح بعد فصلهما، مفيدًا بأن العملية تستغرق نحو (9) ساعات وتُنفذ على (6) مراحل، بمشاركة (24) من الأطباء الاستشاريين والمختصين، إلى جانب الكوادر التمريضية والفنية في تخصصات التخدير، وجراحة الأطفال، وجراحة التجميل، وغيرها من التخصصات المساندة.
وأوضح أن هذه العملية تُعد الرابعة لفصل توائم ملتصقة من سورية، لافتًا إلى أن الفريق الطبي قام خلال الـ (35) عامًا الماضية بدراسة وتقييم (150) حالة، وفَصَلَ (65) توأمًا ملتصقًا من (27) دولة حول العالم، ضمن البرنامج السعودي لفصل التوائم الملتصقة.
ورفع الدكتور الربيعة في ختام تصريحه، الشكر والعرفان لخادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين على ما يقدمانه من رعاية ودعم متواصلين للبرنامج السعودي لفصل التوائم الملتصقة، وللقطاع الصحي في المملكة عامة، سائلًا المولى -عز وجل- أن يكلل جهود الفريق الطبي بالتوفيق، وأن يُحقق هذا العمل الإنساني إنجازًا يُضاف إلى سجل الوطن الحافل بالعطاء.
In implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the medical and surgical team of the Saudi program for conjoined twins, led by the General Supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, Head of the Team Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabiah, began this morning the separation operation for the Syrian conjoined twins "Selin and Eileen" Abdul-Munim Al-Shibli, at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in the King Abdulaziz Medical City of the Ministry of National Guard in Riyadh.
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabiah explained in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the family of the Syrian conjoined twins "Selin and Eileen" were refugees in the Lebanese Republic, and their mother was pregnant with twins from three embryos, two of which are conjoined girls and one healthy, non-conjoined boy. They were born on February 28, 2024, via cesarean section at Rafik Hariri Hospital in Beirut, noting that the twins are one year and (5) months old, and their combined weight is (14) kilograms.
He indicated that the Syrian conjoined twins arrived in Saudi Arabia on December 29, 2024, in cooperation with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, and they were admitted to King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital of the Ministry of National Guard. After several meetings of the medical team and conducting extensive and precise examinations for the twins, it was found that they are conjoined in the area below the chest and abdomen, sharing a membrane for the heart and liver, with a possibility of also sharing intestines. Based on this, the medical team decided to perform a skin expansion procedure by placing medical balloons under the skin to enlarge its size so that the surgical team can cover the wounds after separating them, noting that the operation takes about (9) hours and is carried out in (6) stages, with the participation of (24) consulting and specialized doctors, along with nursing and technical staff in the fields of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and other supporting specialties.
He explained that this operation is the fourth for separating conjoined twins from Syria, pointing out that the medical team has studied and evaluated (150) cases over the past (35) years and has separated (65) conjoined twins from (27) countries around the world, as part of the Saudi program for the separation of conjoined twins.
In conclusion, Dr. Al Rabiah expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trustworthy Crown Prince for their continuous care and support for the Saudi program for the separation of conjoined twins, and for the health sector in the Kingdom in general, asking the Almighty - Glorified and Exalted - to crown the efforts of the medical team with success, and that this humanitarian work achieves an accomplishment added to the nation's record of giving.
