اختتمت المملكة مشاركتها في منتدى القمة العالمية لمجتمع المعلومات (WSIS) المنعقد في مدينة جنيف بسويسرا، بعد سلسلة من الفعاليات واللقاءات والاجتماعات الدولية، التي جسدت التزام المملكة بتعزيز مستقبل رقمي شامل ومستدام، ودعم مستهدفات الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات.
وخلال أيام المنتدى، استعرض وفد المملكة، الذي شهد مشاركة وزير الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات رئيس مجلس إدارة هيئة الاتصالات والفضاء والتقنية المهندس عبدالله بن عامر السواحة، ونائب وزير الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات محافظ هيئة الاتصالات والفضاء والتقنية المكلف المهندس هيثم بن عبدالرحمن العوهلي، أبرز جهود المملكة وتجربتها الريادية في مجالات الاتصالات والتقنية والذكاء الاصطناعي، التي تسهم في تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة وتعزيز مكانة المملكة عالمياً.
وأبرزت مشاركات الوفد السعودي خلال المنتدى رؤية المملكة الطموحة، التي ترتكز على الاستثمار في بنية تحتية رقمية متقدمة، وتنمية الكفاءات الوطنية، واعتماد الابتكار كأحد المحركات الرئيسية لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، كما عكست المشاركات ما وصلت إليه من تقدم ملموس في المؤشرات العالمية، إذ تحتل المرتبة الأولى عالمياً في مؤشر تنمية الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات الصادر عن الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات، والسادسة عالمياً في مؤشر الحكومة الإلكترونية لعام 2024.
وأعلنت المملكة خلال المنتدى تحقيقها جائزة و3 شهادات تميز من جوائز WSIS لمشاريع وطنية رائدة أبرزها منصة «مدرستي»، وبرنامج التمكين التقني للقطاع غير الربحي، والأولمبياد الدولي للذكاء الاصطناعي، ومنصة الذكاء الاصطناعي للصحة الحيوانية، بما يعكس قدرتها على تقديم حلول تقنية مبتكرة ذات أثر اجتماعي واقتصادي مستدام.
وشهدت المشاركة السعودية حضوراً فاعلاً في الجلسات التنفيذية واللقاءات الثنائية، تضمنت مناقشة الشراكات الدولية المستقبلية، وبحث فرص التعاون في مجالات التنظيم، والاستثمار التقني، والاستدامة الرقمية، مع عدد من قادة قطاع الاتصالات والتقنية في العالم، إلى جانب تنظيم لقاء دولي حول «تعزيز الابتكار الرقمي المستدام»، بمشاركة عدة جهات وطنية ومنظمات دولية.
وتأتي هذه المشاركة تأكيداً على دور المملكة كمحور عالمي للتعاون الرقمي، وتجسيداً لرؤيتها في تسخير التقنية لخدمة الإنسان وتعزيز التنمية الشاملة، فيما تستعد لاستضافة المنتدى العالمي لمنظمي الاتصالات (GSR) في الرياض خلال سبتمبر القادم، تأكيداً على دورها الريادي في صياغة مستقبل الاتصالات والتقنية عالمياً.
The Kingdom concluded its participation in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Geneva, Switzerland, after a series of events, meetings, and international gatherings that embodied the Kingdom's commitment to promoting an inclusive and sustainable digital future and supporting the goals of the International Telecommunication Union.
During the forum days, the Saudi delegation, which included the Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Chairman of the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission, Engineer Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, and the Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Acting Governor of the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission, Engineer Haitham bin Abdulrahman Al-Othali, showcased the Kingdom's key efforts and pioneering experience in the fields of communications, technology, and artificial intelligence, which contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing the Kingdom's global standing.
The Saudi delegation's participation during the forum highlighted the Kingdom's ambitious vision, which is based on investing in advanced digital infrastructure, developing national competencies, and adopting innovation as one of the main drivers for achieving sustainable development. The participation also reflected the tangible progress made in global indicators, as the Kingdom ranks first globally in the ICT Development Index issued by the International Telecommunication Union and sixth globally in the e-Government Index for 2024.
During the forum, the Kingdom announced that it had achieved an award and three certificates of excellence from the WSIS Awards for pioneering national projects, including the "Madrasati" platform, the technical empowerment program for the non-profit sector, the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence, and the artificial intelligence platform for animal health, reflecting its ability to provide innovative technical solutions with sustainable social and economic impact.
The Saudi participation witnessed active attendance in executive sessions and bilateral meetings, which included discussions on future international partnerships and exploring cooperation opportunities in regulation, technical investment, and digital sustainability with several leaders in the global communications and technology sector, in addition to organizing an international meeting on "Enhancing Sustainable Digital Innovation," with the participation of several national entities and international organizations.
This participation reaffirms the Kingdom's role as a global hub for digital cooperation and embodies its vision of harnessing technology to serve humanity and promote comprehensive development, as it prepares to host the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) in Riyadh next September, confirming its leading role in shaping the future of communications and technology globally.
