أكدت المؤسسة العامة للري أن صدور موافقة مجلس الوزراء على تنظيم المؤسسة يهدف إلى تمكين المؤسسة من أداء مهماتها بكفاءة ومرونة أكبر، من خلال توسيع اختصاصاتها لتشمل إدارة المياه المعالجة بجميع استخداماتها، والإشراف على إدارة وإنشاء السدود في مختلف مناطق المملكة، ويمنحها صلاحية معالجة مياه الصرف الزراعي والاستفادة منها، إلى جانب بيع المياه المعالجة، ما يعزز من قدراتها المالية ويفتح مجالات جديدة في الاستثمار، ويمكن المؤسسة من تطوير وتنفيذ خطط الطوارئ والأزمات بالتنسيق مع الجهات ذات العلاقة، بما يضمن استمرارية تقديم خدمات المياه بكفاءة عالية في مختلف الظروف، ويعزز أيضا من كفاءة إدارة الموارد المائية وتحقيق الاستدامة في استخدام المياه التقليدية وغير التقليدية، وهو تتويج للدور المتنامي الذي تؤديه المؤسسة في إدارة أنظمة نقل وتوزيع المياه المعالجة، وتنفيذ المشاريع المرتبطة باستخدامات المياه المعالجة في القطاعات الزراعية والصناعية والحضرية، إلى جانب تطوير البنية التحتية للسدود.
وقالت مؤسسة الري إن القرار يجسد ما تحظى به المؤسسة من دعم واهتمام من القيادة ويُعدّ نقلة نوعية في مسيرتها نحو تطوير قطاع الري وإعادة استخدام المياه المعالجة وإدارة السدود في المملكة كمكون رئيسي في سلسلة إمدادات المياه.
The General Authority for Irrigation confirmed that the issuance of the Council of Ministers' approval for the organization of the authority aims to enable it to perform its tasks with greater efficiency and flexibility, by expanding its competencies to include the management of treated water for all its uses, and supervising the management and construction of dams in various regions of the Kingdom. It grants the authority the power to treat agricultural drainage water and benefit from it, in addition to selling treated water, which enhances its financial capabilities and opens new avenues for investment. This enables the authority to develop and implement emergency and crisis plans in coordination with relevant entities, ensuring the continuity of providing water services with high efficiency under various conditions. It also enhances the efficiency of water resource management and achieves sustainability in the use of both traditional and non-traditional water sources. This is a culmination of the growing role the authority plays in managing the systems for transporting and distributing treated water, and implementing projects related to the use of treated water in agricultural, industrial, and urban sectors, as well as developing the infrastructure for dams.
The Irrigation Authority stated that the decision embodies the support and attention the authority receives from the leadership and represents a qualitative leap in its journey towards developing the irrigation sector, reusing treated water, and managing dams in the Kingdom as a key component in the water supply chain.
