كشف رئيس بلدية محافظة الخبر المهندس مشعل بن الحميدي الوهبي بدء العمل في مشروع تطوير الخبر الشمالية في مرحلته الأولى، وذلك بهدف تعزيز مكانة الخبر الشمالية مركزاً تجارياً حيوياً، إضافة إلى مكانتها الاقتصادية والسياحية، فضلا عن أهميتها التاريخية، ما يتطلب المحافظة على البنية التحتية وإبرازها بشكل يتناسب مع ما وصلت إليه الخبر من تنمية من خلال رفع مستوى الخدمات البلدية وتطوير الواقع الحالي للحي من خلال العديد من العناصر التي سيتم استحداثها في التطوير بهدف خلق مجتمع نابض بالحياة ومنطقة صحية وإضافة أشجار ومسطحات خضراء.
وأشار المهندس مشعل الوهبي إلى أن مشروع تطوير الخبر الشمالية يقع على مساحة تزيد على 300 ألف متر مربع في مرحلته الأولى، وذلك في الجزء الواقع ما بين طريق الأمير تركي حتى شارع الملك خالد بن عبد العزيز، وما بين شارع 21 حتى طريق الأمير فيصل بن فهد، ويشمل العديد من العناصر، أبرزها استحداث أرصفة للمشاة بمساحة إجمالية تزيد على 40,410 أمتار مربعة، فيما تبلغ أطوال الشوارع التي سيتم تطويرها 5490 متراً طولياً، ومواقف للسيارات، وأشجار ظل ومسطحات خضراء بمساحة تزيد على 5,800 متر مربع، ومقاعد للجلوس، وتعزيز وسائل السلامة المرورية، وانسيابية الحركة للمشاة من خلال وجود ممرات آمنة تساعد على تنقلهم بكل يسر وسهولة، كما يشمل المشروع أعمال السفلتة والإنارة واللوحات الإرشادية.
وأوضح المهندس مشعل الوهبي أن مشروع التطوير سيساهم في تعزيز الميزة التنافسية للخبر الشمالية كونها القلب النابض لمدينة الخبر، إضافة إلى كونها تمثل الوسط التجاري والسياحي من خلال وجود العديد من المتاجر والمقاهي والمطاعم العالمية، ما يتطلب المحافظة عليها وتشجيع العناصر التجارية، وإيجاد المقومات الكفيلة بزيادة جاذبيتها كمنطقة سياحية وتجارية، ورفع أعداد الزائرين لها سواء من داخل المنطقة أو خارجها.
The Mayor of Al Khobar Governorate, Engineer Mishal bin Al-Humaidi Al-Wahbi, announced the commencement of work on the development project for Northern Al Khobar in its first phase, aimed at enhancing the position of Northern Al Khobar as a vibrant commercial center, in addition to its economic and tourism significance, as well as its historical importance. This requires maintaining and showcasing the infrastructure in a manner that aligns with the development achieved in Al Khobar by improving municipal services and developing the current reality of the neighborhood through various elements that will be introduced in the development, aiming to create a vibrant community and a healthy area with the addition of trees and green spaces.
Engineer Mishal Al-Wahbi pointed out that the Northern Al Khobar development project covers an area of more than 300,000 square meters in its first phase, located between Prince Turki Road and King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Street, and between Street 21 and Prince Faisal bin Fahd Road. It includes many elements, the most notable of which are the establishment of pedestrian walkways with a total area exceeding 40,410 square meters, while the lengths of the streets to be developed will be 5,490 linear meters, along with parking spaces, shade trees, and green areas covering more than 5,800 square meters, seating areas, enhancement of traffic safety measures, and smooth movement for pedestrians through the presence of safe pathways that facilitate their movement easily and comfortably. The project also includes asphalting, lighting, and signage works.
Engineer Mishal Al-Wahbi clarified that the development project will contribute to enhancing the competitive advantage of Northern Al Khobar as it is the vibrant heart of the city of Al Khobar, in addition to representing the commercial and tourism hub through the presence of numerous shops, cafes, and international restaurants. This necessitates maintaining and encouraging commercial elements and creating the components necessary to increase its attractiveness as a tourist and commercial area, thereby raising the number of visitors, both from within the region and outside it.
