The official behind the initiative for delivering medicines using drones and vertical flight, Fahd Al-Shibl, revealed to "Okaz" that the drone has shortened the delivery time of medicines and medical supplies from 90 minutes to about 6 minutes.
He emphasized that these new technologies are part of the healthcare system and the Kingdom's efforts to harness all resources and capabilities to serve the guests of الرحمن, including the adoption of new technologies.
He added: "We have been able to use vertical flight and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) to deliver medicines and medical supplies to medical facilities in the holy sites."
He explained that the main goal of this experiment consists of two essential points: the first is to benefit from technology in the rapid delivery of medicines and medical supplies to medical facilities in the holy sites, and the second point - which is the most important - is the ability to reach some health facilities faster using technology, which helped ease the crowds on the ground and ensured that medicines were delivered efficiently, safely, and quickly.
Al-Shibl indicated that the trials for transporting medicines were successful, as routes were established to supply hospitals in emergency situations from the warehouse; to ensure their arrival in record time to the beneficiaries.
