The "Media Regulatory Authority" emphasized that users of artificial intelligence must adhere to the document and ethics of use within the framework of eight fundamental principles that ensure safe and fair engagement.
The Ministry of Media had previously issued the principles of artificial intelligence in media 2026, which included eight strict mechanisms that encompassed ensuring transparency, credibility, information integrity, protecting the credibility of public figures, preventing misleading content, and committing to responsibility and accountability throughout the content lifecycle, along with integrity, impartiality, community awareness, and empowering the public.
The regulations for safe and fair use prohibit dealing with drafts and distorted or fake outputs, banning the fabrication of news, and ensuring that facts are not falsified or deepfake techniques used to mislead public opinion. The regulations stress the commitment to neutrality, objectivity, and fairness in providing balanced and unbiased content, ensuring fair representation of various issues and opinions without discrimination, and adhering to safety and privacy by protecting individuals' personal data and their digital rights, preventing the exploitation or impersonation of their identities without explicit permission, and supporting responsible development and innovation by encouraging the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency of media work and improve content, provided that professional and ethical standards are adhered to, as well as technical safety, credibility, and data reliability, ensuring the accuracy of the data and sources used, and verifying the correctness of outputs before publication.
Among the principles emphasized by the Media Regulatory Authority is the commitment to transparency and disclosure to the public, by clearly and explicitly notifying recipients when using artificial intelligence technologies in the production or formulation of the displayed media content, community awareness, and public empowerment by raising community awareness on how to interact with intelligent content, and enabling the public to distinguish automated materials and report misleading content.
The last of the eight principles is impact assessment, compliance, oversight, and adherence to regulations, by regularly evaluating risks and continuously monitoring to ensure that the applications and systems used comply with the applicable local regulations and legislation.
