The National Center for Curricula emphasized to public schools for boys and girls at all three stages the necessity of adhering to the extracurricular periods for student activities during the school day.
It clarified that the regulations for organizing extracurricular periods in the curriculum plan confirmed that these periods are one of the main components of the school day, and include various practices: such as morning assembly, breaks, prayer times, and other daily contexts that support learning. It pointed out that they should be implemented for no less than one hour daily within the total duration of the school day, without compromising the time allocated for approved class periods or their regularity.
The center explained that the time allocated for implementing approved programs during extracurricular periods is counted within the teacher's weekly workload, by summing the time actually implemented and accounting it as equivalent to one class period, provided that the extracurricular programs are implemented according to the unified plan approved by the National Center for Curricula. The center called for schools to include extracurricular periods within an approved time plan, to monitor their implementation according to the approved school schedule, and for the school to adhere to all relevant organizational and executive regulations concerning extracurricular periods, in accordance with the plan approved by the center.
