اعتمدت أمانة محافظة جدة تغيير تسمية «طريق الكورنيش» الممتد من شارع النخيل شمالاً إلى طريق الأمير محمد بن عبدالعزيز جنوباً، ليحمل اسم «طريق الأمير خالد الفيصل»؛ تقديراً لمكانته الوطنية ودوره في خدمة المنطقة، وإسهاماته في مسيرة التنمية والتطوير. وجاءت التسمية تزامناً مع صدور الأمر الملكي بتمديد خدمة الأمير خالد بن فيصل بن عبدالعزيز.
ويأتي إطلاق اسم خالد الفيصل في سياق الاحتفاء بمكانته ودوره في مسيرة التنمية بمنطقة مكة المكرمة، وما ارتبط باسمه من جهود في الارتقاء بمستوى الخدمات والمشاريع التنموية، وتعزيز جودة الحياة، وتطوير المشهد الحضري للمدن والمحافظات، بما يواكب مستهدفات رؤية 2030.
ويُعد الأمير خالد الفيصل من الشخصيات الوطنية ذات الحضور البارز في مسيرة التنمية الإدارية والعمرانية بالمملكة، إذ ارتبط اسمه بمنطقة مكة المكرمة من خلال توليه إمارتها، ومتابعته لمسارات التنمية والتطوير فيها، بما يعكس أهمية المنطقة باعتبارها من أهم مناطق المملكة مكانةً دينيةً واقتصاديةً وحضريةً. ويتزامن إطلاق المسمى الجديد مع حلول اليوم الوطني. ويحمل اختيار اسم الأمير خالد الفيصل بالتزامن مع المناسبة دلالات وطنية وثقافية، فهو، إلى جانب مكانته الوطنية ودوره في مسيرة التنمية بمنطقة مكة المكرمة، يُعد من أبرز الشعراء في الوطن، وصاحب حضور أدبي وثقافي راسخ أسهم في إثراء المشهد الشعري السعودي، وارتبطت تجربته الشعرية بالقيم الوطنية والاعتزاز بالهوية والانتماء.
مهندس التنمية
وصف أمين محافظة جدة إحسان بافقيه الأمير خالد الفيصل بـ«مهندس التنمية»، موضحاً أن علاقة الأمير خالد الفيصل بجدة تجسدها جهوده المبذولة للمنطقة إدارياً وتنموياً وثقافياً. وقال إن الأدوار الإشرافية والإدارية للأمير خالد الفيصل تتمثّل في وقوفه على مشاريع ضخمة للبنية التحتية، وتطوير الواجهات البحرية، وشبكات الطرق والمياه منذ توليه إمارة منطقة مكة المكرمة، فضلاً عن متابعته ودعمه المباشر لخطوات تحويل مكتب مشاريع جدة إلى هيئة تطوير محافظة جدة عام 2022 لتعزيز مكانتها التاريخية والحضارية، وغيرها من الإنجازات النوعية التي تشهدها المنطقة والمحافظات التابعة لها.
The Jeddah Governorate Secretariat has approved the renaming of "Corniche Road," which extends from Al-Nakheel Street in the north to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Road in the south, to "Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Road," in recognition of his national stature and his role in serving the region, as well as his contributions to the development and progress journey. This naming coincided with the royal decree extending the service of Prince Khalid bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz.
The naming of Khalid Al-Faisal comes as part of the celebration of his stature and role in the development journey in the Makkah region, along with the efforts associated with his name in enhancing the level of services and developmental projects, improving quality of life, and developing the urban landscape of cities and governorates, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
Prince Khalid Al-Faisal is considered one of the prominent national figures in the administrative and urban development journey in the Kingdom, as his name is closely linked to the Makkah region through his governorship and his follow-up on development and progress paths there, reflecting the region's importance as one of the most significant areas in the Kingdom in terms of religious, economic, and urban status. The launch of the new name coincides with the National Day. The choice of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal's name in conjunction with this occasion carries national and cultural significance; in addition to his national stature and role in the development journey in the Makkah region, he is also one of the most prominent poets in the country, with a solid literary and cultural presence that has contributed to enriching the Saudi poetic scene, and his poetic experience is linked to national values and pride in identity and belonging.
Engineer of Development
The Secretary of Jeddah Governorate, Ihsan Bafqih, described Prince Khalid Al-Faisal as the "Engineer of Development," explaining that Prince Khalid Al-Faisal's relationship with Jeddah is embodied in his efforts made for the region administratively, developmentally, and culturally. He stated that Prince Khalid Al-Faisal's supervisory and administrative roles are reflected in his oversight of massive infrastructure projects, the development of waterfronts, and road and water networks since he assumed the governorship of the Makkah region, in addition to his direct follow-up and support for the steps to transform the Jeddah Projects Office into the Jeddah Development Authority in 2022 to enhance its historical and civilizational status, along with other qualitative achievements witnessed in the region and its affiliated governorates.
