برعاية نائب أمير منطقة مكة المكرمة الأمير سعود بن مشعل بن عبدالعزيز، ونيابةً عنه، افتتح محافظ جدة الأمير سعود بن عبدالله بن جلوي، أمس (الإثنين)، منافسات النسخة الثالثة من أولمبياد العلوم النووية الدولي (INSO 2026)، بحضور وزير التعليم يوسف البنيان، والأمين العام لمؤسسة «موهبة» عبدالعزيز الكريديس، وعددٍ من الأمراء والمسؤولين والخبراء وممثلي الجهات المحلية والدولية.
واستُهل الحفل بكلمة لوزير التعليم رفع فيها الشكر والامتنان لخادم الحرمين الشريفين، وولي العهد، على صدور موافقة المقام السامي الكريم على استضافة المملكة للحدث العالمي.
وأكد أن الموافقة على استضافة المملكة لأولمبياد العلوم النووية الدولي، ورعاية نائب أمير منطقة مكة المكرمة، وحضور محافظ جدة، تجسّد ما يحظى به قطاع التعليم والبحث والابتكار من دعم واهتمام، مشيرًا إلى أن الأولمبياد يمثل منصة عالمية لإلهام جيل جديد من العلماء والباحثين، وتعزيز التعاون الدولي، وإعداد كفاءات وطنية قادرة على الإسهام في تطوير الاستخدامات السلمية والآمنة للتقنيات النووية. وقال وزير التعليم: يأتي انعقاد هذا الأولمبياد في السعودية تأكيدًا لمكانة المملكة المتقدمة واستمرارًا لسجلها المميز في استضافة وتنظيم الأولمبيادات العلمية، مشيرًا إلى تكامل إستراتيجيات وزارة التعليم بصورة وثيقة مع التوجهات الوطنية لاكتشاف المواهب الشابة ورعايتها، وبناء منظومة تعليمية متكاملة تركز على العلوم المتقدمة وتطبيقاتها السلمية؛ لتوفير بيئة محفزة للابتكار، من خلال إتاحة فرص واعدة في المجالات العلمية الدقيقة ذات الأثر التنموي المباشر على حياة الإنسان.
توظيف التقنيات النووية في خدمة الإنسان
ألقى نائب المدير العام للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية رئيس إدارة التعاون التقني هوا ليو كلمة مسجلة هنّأ خلالها المملكة باستضافة الأولمبياد، مشيدًا بجهود الجهات المنظمة في إنجاح هذا الحدث الدولي، مؤكدًا أن المنافسات تسهم في ترسيخ ثقافة العلوم، وإعداد جيل من المتخصصين القادرين على توظيف التقنيات النووية في مجالات الصحة، والأمن الغذائي، والموارد المائية، وحماية البيئة، والطاقة النظيفة، بما يدعم أهداف التنمية المستدامة.
منصة لبناء المعرفة
أكدت رئيس اللجنة التوجيهية لأولمبياد العلوم النووية الدولي الدكتورة مياء العزري، أن استضافة المملكة تمثل مرحلة جديدة في مسيرة الأولمبياد، وتعكس التزامها بدعم العلوم وتمكين الشباب، مشيرةً إلى أن الأولمبياد لا يقتصر على كونه منافسة علمية، بل يشكل منصة لبناء المعرفة، وتبادل الخبرات، وتعزيز التعاون بين شباب العالم، وترسيخ قيم الابتكار لخدمة الإنسانية.
وشهد حفل الافتتاح استعراضًا للدول المشاركة، إلى جانب تقديم أوبريت وطني عكس تنوع الموروث الثقافي للمملكة وأصالته، ثم التُقطت الصور التذكارية.
استضافة للمرة الأولى
يُعد الأولمبياد الذي تستضيفه المملكة للمرة الأولى، محطةً علميةً دوليةً تبرز مكانتها في دعم العلوم والابتكار، وتعزيز حضورها في استضافة الفعاليات العلمية العالمية، بما ينسجم مع مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030، ويأتي بتنظيم مشترك بين وزارة التعليم ومؤسسة الملك عبدالعزيز ورجاله للموهبة والإبداع (موهبة) ومدينة الملك عبدالله للطاقة الذرية والمتجددة، وتستضيف جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز منافساته خلال الفترة من 2 إلى 9 أغسطس 2026م، بمشاركة نحو 120 طالبًا ومختصًا علميًّا من 19 دولة.
ويُعد أولمبياد العلوم النووية الدولي (INSO) من أبرز المسابقات العلمية الدولية الموجهة لطلبة المرحلة الثانوية، ويهدف إلى تعزيز الاستخدام السلمي والآمن للتقنيات النووية، وتنمية مهارات الطلبة في العلوم النووية، وتحفيزهم على الابتكار والبحث العلمي، وإعداد جيلٍ من الكفاءات القادرة على الإسهام في إيجاد حلول علمية تخدم التنمية المستدامة على المستوى العالمي.
4 موهوبين سعوديين
يمثل المملكة في المنافسات أربعة من الطلبة الموهوبين، هم: أمجد محمود عيسى آل درويش من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بالمنطقة الشرقية، وجنى صالح عبدالله السبيل من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بمحافظة جدة، وعبدالعزيز عبدالمحسن الشريط من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بمحافظة الأحساء، وصالح مبارك ضيف الله الحربي من الإدارة العامة للتعليم بالهيئة الملكية بالجبيل.
وجاء اختيار أعضاء المنتخب السعودي بعد اجتيازهم مراحل متقدّمة من الترشيح والتقييم، أعقبها برنامج تأهيلي مكثف نفذته مؤسسة الملك عبدالعزيز ورجاله للموهبة والإبداع (موهبة) بالشراكة مع وزارة التعليم؛ بهدف رفع جاهزيتهم العلمية وتعزيز قدراتهم على التحليل والاستدلال وحل المسائل المتقدمة، وتمكينهم من المنافسة بكفاءة في الأولمبياد.
Under the patronage of the Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region, Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, and on his behalf, the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi, inaugurated yesterday (Monday) the competitions of the third edition of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026), in the presence of Minister of Education Yusuf Al-Bunyan, the Secretary-General of the "Mawhiba" Foundation Abdulaziz Al-Khraidis, and a number of princes, officials, experts, and representatives from local and international organizations.
The ceremony began with a speech by the Minister of Education, in which he expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince for the approval of the esteemed royal decree to host the global event in the Kingdom.
He affirmed that the approval to host the International Nuclear Science Olympiad, along with the patronage of the Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region and the presence of the Governor of Jeddah, embodies the support and attention that the education, research, and innovation sector receives. He pointed out that the Olympiad represents a global platform to inspire a new generation of scientists and researchers, enhance international cooperation, and prepare national competencies capable of contributing to the development of peaceful and safe uses of nuclear technologies. The Minister of Education stated: "The holding of this Olympiad in Saudi Arabia confirms the Kingdom's advanced status and continues its distinguished record in hosting and organizing scientific Olympiads," noting the close integration of the Ministry of Education's strategies with national trends to discover and nurture young talents, and to build a comprehensive educational system that focuses on advanced sciences and their peaceful applications; to provide an inspiring environment for innovation by offering promising opportunities in precise scientific fields that have a direct developmental impact on human life.
Utilizing Nuclear Technologies for Human Service
The Deputy Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Head of the Technical Cooperation Department, Hua Liu, delivered a recorded speech congratulating the Kingdom on hosting the Olympiad, praising the efforts of the organizing bodies in making this international event a success. He emphasized that the competitions contribute to establishing a culture of science and preparing a generation of specialists capable of utilizing nuclear technologies in the fields of health, food security, water resources, environmental protection, and clean energy, thereby supporting sustainable development goals.
A Platform for Building Knowledge
Dr. Maya Al-Azri, Chair of the Steering Committee for the International Nuclear Science Olympiad, confirmed that the Kingdom's hosting represents a new phase in the Olympiad's journey and reflects its commitment to supporting sciences and empowering youth. She pointed out that the Olympiad is not limited to being a scientific competition but serves as a platform for building knowledge, exchanging experiences, and enhancing cooperation among the youth of the world, while instilling values of innovation to serve humanity.
The opening ceremony featured a presentation of the participating countries, along with a national operetta that reflected the diversity and authenticity of the Kingdom's cultural heritage, followed by commemorative photos.
Hosting for the First Time
The Olympiad, which the Kingdom is hosting for the first time, is an international scientific station that highlights its position in supporting sciences and innovation and enhances its presence in hosting global scientific events, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It is organized jointly by the Ministry of Education, the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Talent and Creativity (Mawhiba), and the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, with King Abdulaziz University hosting its competitions from August 2 to 9, 2026, with the participation of about 120 students and scientific specialists from 19 countries.
The International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) is one of the most prominent international scientific competitions aimed at high school students, aiming to promote the peaceful and safe use of nuclear technologies, develop students' skills in nuclear sciences, stimulate them towards innovation and scientific research, and prepare a generation of competencies capable of contributing to finding scientific solutions that serve sustainable development at a global level.
4 Talented Saudis
The Kingdom is represented in the competitions by four talented students: Amjad Mahmoud Issa Al-Darwish from the Eastern Province Education Administration, Juna Salah Abdullah Al-Sabeel from the Jeddah Education Administration, Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Al-Sharait from the Al-Ahsa Education Administration, and Saleh Mubarak Dhiab Allah Al-Harbi from the Royal Commission for Jubail Education Administration.
The selection of the Saudi team members came after they passed advanced stages of nomination and evaluation, followed by an intensive qualification program implemented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Talent and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Ministry of Education; aimed at enhancing their scientific readiness and strengthening their analytical and problem-solving skills to enable them to compete effectively in the Olympiad.
