تعكس زيارة رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني للسعودية تقدير الحكومة الكندية لولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، ومكانة المملكة السياسية والاقتصادية وثقلها ودورها المحوري على المستوى الدولي، وحرص الحكومة الكندية على تعزيز التواصل والتنسيق مع المملكة حول الملفات والقضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك إقليمياً ودولياً.
توطيد العلاقات
وتمثل زيارة رئيس الوزراء الكندي للمملكة تأكيداً لحرص قيادتي البلدين على تطوير وتوطيد العلاقات الثنائية بين المملكة وكندا، في ضوء إمكاناتهما السياسية والاقتصادية كعضوين في مجموعة العشرين، وأهمية استثمار ذلك في خدمة المصالح المشتركة في ظل ما تشهده العلاقات بين البلدين من تطور مستمر.
وفي إطار تعزيز التواصل بين رجال الأعمال السعوديين والكنديين، أعلن اتحاد الغرف السعودية في عام 2024م تشكيلاً إدارياً جديداً لمجلس الأعمال السعودي-الكندي بهدف دعم جهود ربط رجال الأعمال والشركات في البلدين، وتعظيم الاستفادة من الفرص التجارية والاستثمارية، كما افتتح اتحاد الغرف السعودية مكتباً في تورونتو لتسهيل الربط بين الشركات في البلدين وتنظيم زيارات الوفود وتنسيق الفعاليات الاقتصادية.
شراكة استثمارية
وشهدت العلاقات بين قطاعات الأعمال في المملكة وكندا تطوراً مستمراً، إذ استضافت الرياض في يناير 2026م ملتقى الأعمال والاستثمار السعودي-الكندي، الذي عُقد بهدف بحث تعزيز الشراكة الاستثمارية بين البلدين في مجالات التحول الرقمي، والبنية التحتية، إضافة إلى فرص تمكين القطاع الخاص في المملكة وكندا، وتوّج الملتقى بتوقيع 6 مذكرات تفاهم بلغت قيمتها نحو 600 مليون دولار شملت مبادرات تعاون في قطاعات الاتصالات، وتقنية المعلومات، والأمن السيبراني، والتعليم، والتصنيع.
آفاق واعدة
وتعمل السعودية وكندا على تعزيز علاقاتهما التجارية والانتقال بها من مرحلة التبادل التجاري التقليدي إلى مرحلة «الشراكة الاستثمارية المستدامة»، وتوفير بيئة خصبة للمستثمرين لتبادل السلع والخدمات المبتكرة، إذ بلغ حجم التبادل التجاري بين المملكة وكندا في العام 2025م نحو 2.909 مليار دولار، ووصلت قيمة الصادرات السعودية إلى كندا 1.719 مليار دولار، وبلغت قيمة الواردات السعودية منها 1.190 مليار دولار.
وتتيح رؤية المملكة 2030 ومشاريعها ومبادراتها آفاقاً واعدة لتوسع الشراكات بين المملكة وكندا في قطاعات نوعية؛ مثل الذكاء الاصطناعي، والتكنولوجيا النظيفة، والتعدين، والطاقة، وقد انعكس ذلك في وجود نحو 767 شركة كندية تمتلك مكاتب إقليمية ومقرّات داخل المملكة.
وتحرص المملكة وكندا على توطيد العلاقات الثقافية والتعليمية بين البلدين، وفي هذا الصدد حقق أعداد الأطباء السعوديين الخريجين والمبتعثين في كندا قفزة قياسية؛ إذ بلغ إجمالي الخريجين والمبتعثين للأعوام (2020-2025م) نحو 1.984 طبيباً وطبيبة، وسجل أعداد الخريجين نمواً بنسبة 256%، إذ ارتفع من 170 خريجاً في العام 2020م إلى 606 خريجين في العام 2025م.
The visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to Saudi Arabia reflects the Canadian government's appreciation for Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, the political and economic stature of the Kingdom, its weight and pivotal role on the international level, and the Canadian government's keenness to enhance communication and coordination with the Kingdom on files and issues of mutual interest regionally and internationally.
Strengthening Relations
The visit of the Canadian Prime Minister to the Kingdom confirms the commitment of the leaderships of both countries to develop and strengthen bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Canada, in light of their political and economic potentials as members of the G20, and the importance of investing in this to serve mutual interests amid the continuous development of relations between the two countries.
As part of enhancing communication between Saudi and Canadian businessmen, the Saudi Chambers Federation announced in 2024 the formation of a new administrative council for the Saudi-Canadian Business Council aimed at supporting efforts to connect businessmen and companies in both countries and maximizing the benefits from commercial and investment opportunities. The Saudi Chambers Federation also opened an office in Toronto to facilitate connections between companies in both countries, organize delegation visits, and coordinate economic events.
Investment Partnership
Relations between the business sectors of Saudi Arabia and Canada have seen continuous development, as Riyadh hosted the Saudi-Canadian Business and Investment Forum in January 2026, which was held to discuss enhancing the investment partnership between the two countries in the fields of digital transformation, infrastructure, in addition to opportunities for empowering the private sector in Saudi Arabia and Canada. The forum culminated in the signing of 6 memoranda of understanding worth approximately $600 million, which included cooperation initiatives in the sectors of telecommunications, information technology, cybersecurity, education, and manufacturing.
Promising Horizons
Saudi Arabia and Canada are working to enhance their trade relations and transition from traditional trade exchange to a stage of "sustainable investment partnership," providing a fertile environment for investors to exchange innovative goods and services. The volume of trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Canada in 2025 reached approximately $2.909 billion, with Saudi exports to Canada valued at $1.719 billion, and Saudi imports from Canada amounting to $1.190 billion.
The Kingdom's Vision 2030 and its projects and initiatives offer promising horizons for expanding partnerships between Saudi Arabia and Canada in quality sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean technology, mining, and energy, reflected in the presence of approximately 767 Canadian companies with regional offices and headquarters within the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia and Canada are keen to strengthen cultural and educational relations between the two countries. In this regard, the number of Saudi doctors graduating and studying in Canada has seen a record leap; the total number of graduates and students for the years (2020-2025) reached about 1,984 doctors, with the number of graduates growing by 256%, rising from 170 graduates in 2020 to 606 graduates in 2025.
