على الرغم من مرور أكثر من شهرين على دخول اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار في غزة حيّز التنفيذ، إلا أنه لا يزال يواجه تعقيدات وعراقيل، خصوصاً من جانب الاحتلال الإسرائيلي، وسط تصاعد الشكوك بشأن إمكانية الانتقال إلى المرحلة الثانية، في ظل ظهور تباينات حادة بين الأطراف المعنية، وتضارب الحسابات السياسية إقليمياً ودولياً.
وفيما تتواصل الجهود المكثفة للوسطاء، للحيلولة دون انهيار «الهدنة الهشة»، الأمر الذي من شأنه إعادة الأوضاع إلى المربع الأول، فإن عملية التفاوض بين إسرائيل وحماس تبدو «مجمّدة»، وسط تبادل الاتهامات بالتعطيل والعرقلة، وتباين الرؤى حول مصير ومستقبل غزة وترتيبات «اليوم التالي» لانتهاء الحرب.
وهكذا تقف هدنة غزة اليوم أمام مرحلة حرجة، فإما أن تتحوّل إلى طريق يقود نحو مسار سياسي يعالج جذور الصراع، ويطلق مرحلة جديدة في الشرق الأوسط، أو أن تبقى مجرد «استراحة محارب»، أو فرصة لالتقاط الأنفاس، ثم العودة مجدّداً إلى الحرب. ومن ثم فإن الاختبار الحقيقي ليس في إعلان الهدنة، بل في إمكانية حمايتها والبناء عليها، والدفع بها إلى تحقيق أهدافها، وهو ما لم يتحقّق حتى الآن.
ويبقى الأمل في الراعي الأمريكي الذي أعلن إحباطه من ممارسات رئيس وزراء الاحتلال بنيامين نتنياهو عبر رسالة شديدة اللهجة، بانتظار نتائج لقائه المرتقب مع الرئيس الأمريكي أواخر ديسمبر الجاري.
Despite more than two months having passed since the ceasefire agreement in Gaza came into effect, it still faces complications and obstacles, particularly from the Israeli occupation, amid rising doubts about the possibility of moving to the second phase, in light of sharp divergences between the concerned parties and conflicting political calculations regionally and internationally.
While intensive efforts by mediators continue to prevent the collapse of the "fragile truce," which would return the situation to square one, the negotiation process between Israel and Hamas appears to be "frozen," amidst mutual accusations of obstruction and delays, and differing visions regarding the fate and future of Gaza and the arrangements for the "day after" the end of the war.
Thus, the Gaza truce stands today at a critical juncture, where it could either transform into a path leading to a political process that addresses the roots of the conflict and launches a new phase in the Middle East, or remain merely a "rest for the weary" or an opportunity to catch one's breath before returning to war again. Therefore, the real test lies not in the announcement of the truce, but in the possibility of protecting it, building upon it, and pushing it towards achieving its goals, which has not been realized so far.
Hope remains in the American sponsor, who expressed his frustration with the practices of the occupation's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu through a strongly worded message, awaiting the results of his anticipated meeting with the American president at the end of December.
