أعلنت السلطات في لاتفيا أن طائرات مقاتلة ضمن مهمة «شرطة البلطيق الجوية» التابعة لحلف شمال الأطلسي «الناتو» أسقطت طائرة مسيرة دخلت المجال الجوي للبلاد، فيما أعلنت فنلندا فرض منطقة حظر مؤقتة على حركة الطيران والملاحة البحرية في شرق خليج فنلندا.
وقالت القوات المسلحة اللاتفية في بيان، اليوم (الجمعة)، إن طائرة أجنبية دون طيار دخلت المجال الجوي للاتفيا نتيجة تشويش إلكتروني روسي. وأشار إلى أن المسيرة انحرفت عن مسارها بفعل أنظمة الحرب الإلكترونية والدفاعات الجوية الروسية. واعترضت مقاتلات تابعة للناتو المسيرة وأسقطتها فوق منطقة بالفي شرقي لاتفيا.
حظر مؤقت للطيران
وأعلن متحدث باسم مقر القيادة المشتركة للقوات المسلحة الوطنية اللاتفية، أن موقع حطام المسيرة معروف، لكن لن يتم الكشف عنه في الوقت الحالي، فيما تعمل الجهات المختصة في الموقع. فيما أعلنت فنلندا، التي تشترك في حدود مع روسيا، فرض منطقة حظر مؤقتة على حركة الطيران والملاحة البحرية في شرق خليج فنلندا.
وأضاف المتحدث: «طالما استمر العدوان الروسي في أوكرانيا، فمن الممكن أن تتكرر حالات دخول طائرات مسيرة أجنبية إلى المجال الجوي اللاتفي أو اقترابها منه».
وأشار إلى أن المسيرة أُسقطت على ارتفاع شاهق، ما يعني أن حطامها ربما تناثر على مساحة واسعة. ولم تصدر السلطات اللاتفية حتى الآن تعليقاً رسمياً بشأن مصدر المسيرة المحتمل.
إلا أن تقارير أفادت بأن طائرات مسيرة أوكرانية هاجمت مجدداً خلال الليل ميناء أوست-لوجا الروسي قرب سان بطرسبورج. ويمر أقصر طريق جوي إلى الميناء بمحاذاة الحدود الشرقية لكل من لاتفيا وإستونيا.
من جانبه، أعلن حاكم منطقة لينينجراد ألكسندر دروزدينكو، عبر تطبيق تليجرام، اليوم (الجمعة)، أن روسيا أسقطت 15 طائرة مسيرة في المنطقة، القريبة من فنلندا وإستونيا، والتي تضم مدينة سانت بطرسبرج، ثاني أكبر مدن البلاد ومركزاً تصديرياً رئيسياً.
ويقوم جيران روسيا الشماليون في حلف الناتو بتشديد الإجراءات الأمنية حول السدود ومحطات توليد الطاقة وشبكات الغاز الطبيعي، في مؤشر على تزايد المخاوف من قيام موسكو بشن هجوم باستخدام طائرات مسيرة أوكرانية.
The authorities in Latvia announced that fighter jets involved in the NATO "Baltic Air Policing" mission shot down a drone that entered the country's airspace, while Finland announced the imposition of a temporary no-fly zone for air traffic and maritime navigation in the eastern Gulf of Finland.
The Latvian armed forces stated in a statement today (Friday) that a foreign unmanned aerial vehicle entered Latvian airspace due to Russian electronic jamming. It was noted that the drone deviated from its course due to Russian electronic warfare systems and air defenses. NATO fighter jets intercepted the drone and shot it down over the Balvi region in eastern Latvia.
Temporary Flight Ban
A spokesperson for the Latvian National Armed Forces Joint Command announced that the location of the drone wreckage is known, but it will not be disclosed at this time while the relevant authorities are working at the site. Meanwhile, Finland, which shares a border with Russia, announced the imposition of a temporary no-fly zone for air traffic and maritime navigation in the eastern Gulf of Finland.
The spokesperson added, "As long as the Russian aggression in Ukraine continues, it is possible for foreign drones to repeatedly enter Latvian airspace or come close to it."
He pointed out that the drone was shot down at a high altitude, meaning that its wreckage may have scattered over a wide area. The Latvian authorities have not yet issued an official comment regarding the potential source of the drone.
However, reports indicated that Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian port of Ust-Luga near St. Petersburg again during the night. The shortest air route to the port runs along the eastern borders of both Latvia and Estonia.
For his part, the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, announced via the Telegram app today (Friday) that Russia shot down 15 drones in the area, which is close to Finland and Estonia, and includes the city of St. Petersburg, the second-largest city in the country and a major export hub.
Northern neighbors of Russia in NATO are tightening security measures around dams, power plants, and natural gas networks, indicating increasing fears that Moscow may launch an attack using Ukrainian drones.
