The U.S. military denied today (Saturday) the Iranian accusations of targeting civilian infrastructure during recent airstrikes, affirming that its operations focused on facilities used by the Revolutionary Guard to threaten regional navigation.

Iranian media reported that the U.S. strikes hit electricity and desalination facilities, as well as bridges and roads in the south of the country.

This exchange comes as the U.S. air campaign enters its seventh consecutive night, with increasing disagreement between Washington and Tehran regarding the nature of the targets being struck within Iranian territory, and whether they are limited to military facilities or have extended to vital facilities providing civilian services.

The U.S. military stated that reports claiming civilian infrastructure was targeted are "incorrect," emphasizing that the strikes targeted facilities used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in operations that threaten navigation in the Gulf.

In statements reported by ABC News, it added that Iran is the one putting civilians at risk by targeting sailors and commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, stressing that U.S. operations focus on undermining the military and logistical capabilities used by the Revolutionary Guard.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that its recent strikes targeted surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapon depots, and naval capabilities, using fighter jets, drones, and warships.

In contrast, Iranian media reported that the U.S. strikes exceeded military targets, with the Mehr news agency stating that several missiles hit electricity facilities and water desalination pumps at the dock of the village of Bungi in the city of Jask in Hormozgan province, causing water shortages in several coastal villages.

The Tasnim news agency reported that the airstrikes caused damage to two bridges on the road linking Bandar Abbas and Rudan, resulting in casualties, according to the Iranian narrative.

The city of Jask has become the focal point of the dispute between the two narratives, as it includes naval facilities and logistical installations located near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz, along with water desalination stations relied upon by the local population.

Iranian authorities claim that the strikes hit electricity and desalination facilities, resulting in three deaths and eight injuries in Hormozgan province, while Washington insists that all the targets attacked are linked to the military infrastructure used by the Revolutionary Guard to support its operations in the Gulf.
