The Jeddah Governorate Secretariat issued notifications yesterday to the owners of dilapidated shops and buildings at risk of collapse in the vicinity of the Al-Qawzein market, in preparation for completing the legal procedures and carrying out demolition work, as part of its efforts to protect lives and property and address sites that pose a danger to public safety.

The head of the Southern Sub-Municipality, Ibrahim Al-Sulami, explained that the notifications granted the owners a legal grace period of two months from the date of receipt before starting the demolition work, and the owners of the neighboring buildings were also notified of the procedures established at the site.

He indicated that the municipality inspected the sites, and the inspection results showed that their structural condition was unsafe, and that their continued existence in their current state posed a danger to public safety, which necessitated their inclusion among the sites scheduled for demolition.

The Jeddah Governorate Secretariat confirmed its ongoing efforts to monitor dilapidated buildings and sites and address them according to the approved legal procedures, contributing to the preservation of lives and property and enhancing the urban landscape.
