في تطوّر مفاجئ، فشل فريق EDward Gaming (EDG)، الفائز بلقب VALORANT Champions 2024، في التأهل إلى بطولة Masters Toronto، ثاني محطة دولية ضمن موسم VCT 2025.
رغم الأداء القوي الذي قدمه الفريق خلال مرحلة المجموعات في VCT China Stage 1 وتصدره لمجموعته، إلا أن مشواره في التصفيات لم يكن على قدر التطلعات. هزيمتهم أمام XLG Esports في نصف نهائي القسم العلوي دفعتهم إلى القسم السفلي، حيث تغلبوا على Dragon Ranger بنتيجة 2-1، لكنهم خرجوا من المنافسة بعد خسارة أخرى 2-1 على يد Bilibili Gaming.
هذه الهزيمة وضعت حداً لطموحات EDG في الوصول إلى Masters Toronto، وحرمتهم من فرصة تحسين مركزهم الثالث الذي حققوه في Masters Bangkok في وقت سابق من هذا العام.
مع غياب EDG عن الحدث، ستحمل فرق Bilibili Gaming وWolves Esports وXLG Esports آمال الصين في Masters Toronto، المقرر إقامته من 7 إلى 22 يونيو 2025.
وكان EDG، الذي يُعتبر أحد أقوى الفرق الصينية في VALORANT، قد دخل موسم 2025 بهدف البناء على إنجاز Champions 2024 غيابهم عن Masters Toronto يضع ضغطا إضافيا عليهم قبل Esports World Cup في الرياض، حيث ستظهر VALORANT للمرة الأولى في الحدث.
الفريق الصيني القوي يشارك حاليا في VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 2، وهي جزء من دوري Asian Champions League وسيتأهل أفضل فريقين من هذه البطولة إلى Esports World Cup.

In a surprising turn of events, the EDward Gaming (EDG) team, winners of the VALORANT Champions 2024 title, failed to qualify for the Masters Toronto, the second international stop in the VCT 2025 season.
Despite the strong performance the team showcased during the group stage of VCT China Stage 1, where they topped their group, their journey in the qualifiers did not meet expectations. Their defeat against XLG Esports in the upper bracket semifinals pushed them to the lower bracket, where they overcame Dragon Ranger with a score of 2-1, but they were eliminated from the competition after another loss of 2-1 to Bilibili Gaming.
This defeat put an end to EDG's ambitions of reaching Masters Toronto and deprived them of the opportunity to improve their third-place finish achieved at Masters Bangkok earlier this year.
With EDG absent from the event, Bilibili Gaming, Wolves Esports, and XLG Esports will carry China's hopes at Masters Toronto, scheduled to take place from June 7 to June 22, 2025.
EDG, considered one of the strongest Chinese teams in VALORANT, entered the 2025 season with the goal of building on their achievement at Champions 2024. Their absence from Masters Toronto adds extra pressure on them ahead of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, where VALORANT will make its debut at the event.
The strong Chinese team is currently participating in the VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 2, which is part of the Asian Champions League, and the top two teams from this tournament will qualify for the Esports World Cup.
Looking ahead, EDG's next major international opportunity will be at VALORANT Champions 2025, where they will represent China with 4 teams: the top two teams from VCT China Stage 2 and the top two teams based on ranking points. EDG is still in the lead with 10 points, but their position could be threatened if other Chinese teams achieve strong results in Toronto.
