فازت المملكة العربية السعودية بعضوية مجلس المنظمة البحرية الدولية (IMO) للفترة 2026 - 2027، وذلك بعد حصولها على (142) صوتًا من الدول الأعضاء خلال الانتخابات التي أقيمت في العاصمة البريطانية لندن.
وتُعد المنظمة التابعة للأمم المتحدة، الجهة المعنية بوضع المعايير الدولية لسلامة وأمن النقل البحري، والحد من التلوث الناتج عن السفن، وحماية البيئة البحرية.
ورفع وزير النقل والخدمات اللوجستية رئيس مجلس إدارة الهيئة العامة للنقل المهندس صالح بن ناصر الجاسر الشكر للقيادة على دعمها المتواصل لمنظومة النقل، مؤكدًا أن فوز المملكة يعكس ثقة المجتمع الدولي في قدراتها ودورها القيادي داخل المنظمة.
وأوضحت الهيئة العامة للنقل أن هذا الفوز يأتي تتويجًا للدعم الكبير الذي تقدمه القيادة الحكيمة لقطاع النقل البحري، واستمرارًا للمكتسبات التي تحققت في إطار رؤية المملكة 2030، وعزّزت حضور المملكة قوة مؤثرة في صياغة مستقبل الصناعة البحرية عالميًا.
وبيّنت الهيئة أن المملكة تمتلك مكانة متقدمة في القطاع البحري؛ إذ يحتل الأسطول البحري السعودي المرتبة الأولى إقليميًا، فيما تواصل موانئ المملكة تعزيز تنافسيتها عالميًا، إذ استهدفت الإستراتيجية الوطنية للنقل والخدمات اللوجستية رفع كفاءة الموانئ، وتسهيل حركة التجارة، وتنمية السياحة البحرية عبر الكروز والنقل الساحلي، مستفيدةً من موقع المملكة الذي يمر عبره (13%) من التجارة العالمية في البحر الأحمر.
ويعكس هذا الفوز استمرار الدور السعودي المؤثر في تطوير التشريعات البحرية الدولية ودعم الجهود المشتركة لحماية البيئة البحرية وتعزيز أمن وسلامة النقل البحري.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has won a seat on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council for the period 2026 - 2027, after receiving 142 votes from member states during the elections held in the British capital, London.
The organization, which is affiliated with the United Nations, is responsible for setting international standards for the safety and security of maritime transport, reducing pollution from ships, and protecting the marine environment.
The Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Transport Authority, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, expressed gratitude to the leadership for its continuous support of the transport system, affirming that the Kingdom's victory reflects the international community's trust in its capabilities and its leading role within the organization.
The Public Transport Authority clarified that this victory is a culmination of the significant support provided by the wise leadership to the maritime transport sector, and a continuation of the achievements made under the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which has strengthened the Kingdom's presence as an influential force in shaping the future of the maritime industry globally.
The Authority indicated that the Kingdom holds a prominent position in the maritime sector; the Saudi maritime fleet ranks first regionally, while the Kingdom's ports continue to enhance their global competitiveness. The National Transport and Logistics Strategy aims to improve port efficiency, facilitate trade movement, and develop maritime tourism through cruises and coastal transport, benefiting from the Kingdom's location through which 13% of global trade in the Red Sea passes.
This victory reflects the ongoing influential role of Saudi Arabia in developing international maritime legislation and supporting joint efforts to protect the marine environment and enhance the safety and security of maritime transport.
