اعتمدت وزارة البيئة والمياه والزراعة ضوابط واشتراطات التعبئة والتغليف للخضار والفواكه في أسواق النفع العام، وتتمحور الاشتراطات حول بطاقة المنتج الزراعي، العبوات البلاستيكية والكرتونية، مواصفات التعبئة والتغليف، إذ يجب أن تحتوي كل عبوة على ملصق بطاقة المنتج الزراعي، وأن تحتوي كل عبوة لوحدات البيع المعتمدة على ملصق بطاقة المنتج الزراعي، تشمل بيانات اسم المنتج، والوزن الصافي، وتاريخ التعبئة، وبلد المنشأ، وتفاصيل المُورد أو المُنتج (رقم السجل الزراعي)، والاسم، والشعار، وأن تكون العبوات مصنَّعة من مواد مطابقة للمواصفات الغذائية وتتحمل الضغط، وقابلة لإعادة التدوير، وتسمح بمرور الهواء الكافي داخل العبوة.
