أعلنت شركة تطوير مطار الملك سلمان الدولي، إحدى شركات صندوق الاستثمارات العامة، توقيع مذكرة تفاهم وتعاون مع شركة الوقود الحيوي المحدودة، في خطوة تهدف إلى تعزيز التعاون في استخدام وقود الديزل الحيوي بديلاً مباشراً للديزل الأحفوري خلال مرحلة إنشاء المطار، مع إمكانية التوسع في استخدامه خلال مرحلة التشغيل مستقبلاً إذا دعت الحاجة.
وستدعم شركة الوقود الحيوي مطار الملك سلمان الدولي عبر توفير حلول الطاقة البديلة من خلال وقود الديزل الحيوي B100 لاستخدامه في الأعمال الإنشائية، بما يُسهم في تقليل البصمة الكربونية والانبعاثات الناتجة عن المشروع، وذلك انسجاماً مع مستهدفات المملكة لتحقيق الحياد الصفري.
وبيَّن الرئيس التنفيذي المكلف لشركة تطوير مطار الملك سلمان الدولي ماركو ميهيا أن التعاون يمثل خطوة عملية نحو بناء مطار يراعي أعلى معايير الاستدامة البيئية، ويعكس تبني حلول طاقة بديلة تواكب التوجهات العالمية في الحد من الانبعاثات، منوهاً بأهمية الشراكات النوعية لتحقيق الأهداف، بالتزامن مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030 نحو مستقبل أكثر استدامة.
وتأتي هذه المذكرة ضمن التزام مطار الملك سلمان الدولي بتطبيق ممارسات مستدامة، تُقلِّل الأثر البيئي، وتدعم كفاءة الموارد، وتُعد امتداداً لجهوده في تحقيق أعلى المعايير البيئية منذ المراحل الأولى لتطوير المشروع.
The King Salman International Airport Development Company, one of the Public Investment Fund companies, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the Biofuel Limited Company, in a step aimed at enhancing cooperation in the use of biodiesel as a direct alternative to fossil diesel during the airport construction phase, with the possibility of expanding its use during the operational phase in the future if needed.
The Biofuel Company will support King Salman International Airport by providing alternative energy solutions through biodiesel B100 for use in construction activities, contributing to reducing the carbon footprint and emissions resulting from the project, in line with the Kingdom's targets for achieving net zero.
The acting CEO of King Salman International Airport Development Company, Marco Mejia, stated that the cooperation represents a practical step towards building an airport that adheres to the highest environmental sustainability standards, reflecting the adoption of alternative energy solutions that align with global trends in reducing emissions, emphasizing the importance of quality partnerships to achieve the goals, in conjunction with the targets of Vision 2030 for a more sustainable future.
This memorandum comes as part of King Salman International Airport's commitment to implementing sustainable practices that reduce environmental impact, support resource efficiency, and extend its efforts to achieve the highest environmental standards since the early stages of project development.
