كشفت بيانات صدرت عن وزارة الطاقة الأمريكية اليوم تراجع مخزونات النفط الخام في الاحتياطي الاستراتيجي للولايات المتحدة بمقدار 6.2 مليون برميل إلى 319.5 مليون برميل، وهو أدنى مستوى لها منذ أبريل 1983.
ويأتي هذا الانخفاض في إطار تنفيذ خطة السحب المنسق من الاحتياطيات الاستراتيجية للدول الأعضاء في وكالة الطاقة الدولية، التي تتضمن إفراج واشنطن عن إجمالي 172 مليون برميل من النفط الخام.
أمن الطاقة
من جهة أخرى، اقترحت حكومتا مقاطعتي ألبرتا وأونتاريو الكنديتين إنشاء خط أنابيب جديد للنفط الخام وممر للطاقة يمتد عبر البلاد، في خطوة تستهدف تقليص اعتماد كندا على البنية التحتية الأمريكية وتعزيز أمن الطاقة.
ويمتد المشروع المقترح، الذي يحمل اسم «ممر الدرع الشمالي للطاقة»، لمسافة 3300 كيلومتر، ليربط مركز تخزين النفط في «هارديستي» بمقاطعة ألبرتا، بمركز التكرير في «سارنيا» بمقاطعة أونتاريو.
استقرار الأسعار
ومن المخطط أن ينقل الخط نحو 500 ألف برميل يومياً للاستهلاك المحلي وأسواق التصدير، مع إمكانية زيادة طاقته إلى 800 ألف برميل يومياً، فيما تعتزم أونتاريو أيضاً دراسة إنشاء احتياطيها الاستراتيجي الخاص من النفط.
وأفادت المقاطعتان في بيان اليوم بأن المشروع سيسهم في خفض اعتماد كندا على واردات النفط، واستقرار الأسعار، وتعزيز الأمن القومي.
Data released by the U.S. Department of Energy today revealed a decline in crude oil inventories in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve of the United States by 6.2 million barrels to 319.5 million barrels, the lowest level since April 1983.
This decrease comes as part of the implementation of a coordinated withdrawal plan from the strategic reserves of member countries of the International Energy Agency, which includes the release of a total of 172 million barrels of crude oil by Washington.
Energy Security
On another note, the governments of the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Ontario have proposed the establishment of a new crude oil pipeline and energy corridor extending across the country, in a move aimed at reducing Canada’s reliance on U.S. infrastructure and enhancing energy security.
The proposed project, named the "Northern Shield Energy Corridor," spans 3,300 kilometers, connecting the oil storage hub in "Hardisty" in Alberta with the refining center in "Sarnia" in Ontario.
Price Stability
The pipeline is planned to transport about 500,000 barrels per day for domestic consumption and export markets, with the potential to increase its capacity to 800,000 barrels per day. Ontario also intends to study the establishment of its own strategic oil reserve.
The two provinces stated in a press release today that the project will contribute to reducing Canada’s dependence on oil imports, stabilizing prices, and enhancing national security.
