امتد تأثير الموجة الحارة التي تضرب أوروبا إلى المحاصيل الزراعية، إذ قفزت أسعار الذرة بعد أن تضرر المحصول في فرنسا، التي تعتبر إحدى أكبر الدول المنتجة للذرة في الاتحاد الأوروبي، بفعل تأثير الطقس الحار على المحاصيل.
الأكثر تداولاً
وارتفعت العقود الآجلة للذرة الأكثر تداولاً في شيكاغو بنحو 2% اليوم، بعد أن أعلنت الحكومة الفرنسية أن درجات الحرارة المرتفعة قد ألحقت أضراراً بنحو ثلث محصولها من الذرة، كما يراقب المتعاملون أيضاً ارتفاع درجات الحرارة في الولايات المتحدة.
كما تراقب السوق أي تفاصيل إضافية بشأن التجارة بين الولايات المتحدة والصين، بعد اتفاقهما الأولي على إدراج المنتجات الزراعية ضمن إطار عمل لخفض الرسوم الجمركية المتبادلة.
قبة حرارية
ومع بداية يونيو الماضي ضربت موجة شديدة الحرارة أوروبا شُبهت بأنها «قبة حرارية» وأثرت على أنشطة اقتصادية وعطلت وسائل مواصلات وأجلت امتحانات للمدارس، وارتفع الطلب على وسائل التبريد من المراوح والمكيفات التي لم يحتج إليها السكان في السنوات السابقة، بينما أفاد الاتحاد الدولي للصليب الأحمر أن هذه الموجة تحولت إلى مسألة حياة أو موت للفئات الأكثر ضعفاً.

The most traded corn futures in Chicago rose by about 2% today, after the French government announced that high temperatures had damaged about a third of its corn crop, while traders are also monitoring rising temperatures in the United States.
The market is also watching for any additional details regarding trade between the United States and China, following their initial agreement to include agricultural products in a framework for reducing mutual tariffs.
Heat Dome
At the beginning of last June, a severe heatwave hit Europe, likened to a "heat dome," affecting economic activities, disrupting transportation, and postponing school exams. The demand for cooling devices such as fans and air conditioners, which residents had not needed in previous years, increased, while the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies reported that this wave has turned into a matter of life and death for the most vulnerable groups.
