قال مدير مشروع تشييد «برج جدة» المهندس المعماري جون بيرونتو: "إن البرج، الذي سيكون عند اكتمال تشييده أعلى مبنى في العالم، سيكتمل خلال 60 أسبوعاً". وأبلغ بيرونتو مجلة «نيوزويك» أن العاملين في تشييد البرج يدفعون بقوة للوصول إلى الطابق الـ 160، وأكد أن العمل في البرج وصل إلى مرحلة الطابق الـ 104، بعلو يصل إلى 400 متر. وأشار إلى أن العمل سيمضي بمعدل 4 أمتار أسبوعياً، على أن يصل ارتفاع البرج إلى 500 متر خلال 25 أسبوعاً.
ونقلت «نيوزويك» عن المعماري الذي صمم برج جدة غوردون جِلْ -وهو مع شريكه أدريان سميث من قاما بتصميم برج خليفة في دبي- قوله إن برج جدة سيضفي مسحة حداثة على المباني القديمة في عروس البحر الأحمر. وأشارت «نيوزويك» إلى أن بناء برج جدة يأتي في نطاق مستهدفات رؤية السعودية 2030، التي يرعاها ويتابع تنفيذها ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبد العزيز.
وتهدف الرؤية لتنويع الاقتصاد السعودي، وإعادة هيكلته بحيث تتخلى السعودية عن الاعتماد على مداخيل النفط وحدها. وأضافت أن برج جدة سيكون أهم معالم مدينة جدة الاقتصادية، التي يجري تشييدها على مساحة تبلغ 5.3 مليون متر مربع.
وذكرت مجلة «كونستركشن ويك»، في يونيو الجاري، أن العمل في تشييد ناطحة السحاب «المكعب» في الرياض جارٍ وفق ما هو مخطط له. وقال المهندس بيرونتو إن تشييد برج جدة سيكتمل بحسب ما هو مقرر في أغسطس 2028. ويتوقع أن يبلغ عدد طوابق البرج 167 طابقاً، ونقلت «نيوزويك» عن بيرونتو قوله إنه يتوقع أن يتم إشغال ما لا يقل عن 130 طابقاً من البرج حال اكتمال تشييده.

Newsweek quoted the architect who designed the Jeddah Tower, Gordon Gill—who, along with his partner Adrian Smith, designed the Burj Khalifa in Dubai—as saying that the Jeddah Tower will add a modern touch to the old buildings in the bride of the Red Sea. Newsweek pointed out that the construction of the Jeddah Tower is part of the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which is sponsored and monitored by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz.
The vision aims to diversify the Saudi economy and restructure it so that Saudi Arabia can move away from relying solely on oil revenues. It added that the Jeddah Tower will be the most important landmark of the economic city of Jeddah, which is being built over an area of 5.3 million square meters.
Construction Week magazine reported in June that work on the "Cube" skyscraper in Riyadh is progressing as planned. Engineer Paront stated that the construction of the Jeddah Tower is expected to be completed as scheduled in August 2028. The tower is expected to have 167 floors, and Newsweek quoted Paront as saying he expects at least 130 floors of the tower to be occupied upon its completion.
