عبَّر وزير الطاقة الأمريكي كريس رايت اليوم عن اعتقاده بأن أسعار البنزين بلغت ذروتها بالفعل، لكنه توقع أنها قد تبقى فوق 3 دولارات للجالون حتى العام القادم.
وقال رايت لشبكة (سي.إن.إن): «إن سعر البنزين قد ينخفض إلى أقل من 3 دولارات للجالون في وقت لاحق من هذا العام، وقد لا يحدث ذلك حتى العام القادم، لكن الأسعار بلغت ذروتها على الأرجح، وستبدأ بالانخفاض، بالتأكيد، فمع انتهاء هذا الصراع ستشهدون انخفاضاً في الأسعار».
وأضاف: «سعر أقل من 3 دولارات للجالون أمر سيشكل تحولاً هائلاً في ما يتعلق بتبعاته على التضخم، وسنعود لهذا المستوى مرة أخرة بكل تأكيد».
آراء متباينة
وقدم مسؤولون في إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب آراء متباينة عن تحرك أسعار البنزين. وتوقع وزير الخزانة سكوت بيسنت الأسبوع الماضي انخفاض أسعار البنزين إلى نحو 3 دولارات للجالون هذا الصيف، بينما وضع رايت اليوم إطاراً زمنياً أطول للوصول إلى هذا السعر. فيما ذكر ترمب نفسه أن أسعار البنزين قد تظل مرتفعة حتى نوفمبر القادم.
لكن جميعهم أشاروا إلى أن أسعار البنزين ستنخفض في نهاية المطاف بمجرد انتهاء حرب إيران.
وتشير تقديرات رابطة السيارات الأمريكية (إيه.إيه.إيه) إلى أن متوسط سعر جالون البنزين العادي بلغ اليوم 4.05 دولار ارتفاعاً من 3.16 دولار قبل عام.
U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright expressed today his belief that gasoline prices have indeed peaked, but he expects they may remain above $3 per gallon until next year.
Wright told CNN, “Gas prices could drop below $3 per gallon later this year, and that may not happen until next year, but prices have likely peaked, and they will start to decline, for sure. With the end of this conflict, you will see a decrease in prices.”
He added, “A price below $3 per gallon would represent a huge shift in terms of its implications for inflation, and we will certainly return to that level again.”
Divergent Opinions
Officials in President Donald Trump's administration have expressed divergent views on the movement of gasoline prices. Treasury Secretary Scott Piesen predicted last week that gasoline prices would drop to around $3 per gallon this summer, while Wright today provided a longer timeframe to reach that price. Trump himself mentioned that gasoline prices could remain high until next November.
However, they all indicated that gasoline prices will eventually decrease once the Iran war is over.
Estimates from the American Automobile Association (AAA) indicate that the average price of regular gasoline today reached $4.05, up from $3.16 a year ago.
