«الصناعة»: رفع الطاقة الاستيعابية لموانئ السعودية إلى 18.6 مليون حاوية

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Engineer Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salama, confirmed the increase in the capacity of the Kingdom's ports on the Red Sea to reach 18.6 million containers, prioritizing shipments for the food and pharmaceutical sectors, alongside facilitating customs procedures by providing 3 additional mobile scanning devices at Jeddah Islamic Port and adding 8 new entry and exit lanes to the port, as well as another at King Abdullah Port, which enhances the speed of import flow.

During a meeting at the Eastern Chamber of Commerce and Industry with a number of industrialists, businessmen and businesswomen, specialists, and investors in the industrial sector in the region, "Bin Salama" reviewed the Kingdom's efforts to strengthen the robustness of the national economy and support sectors in light of current challenges and enhance integration between all relevant entities.

Financial Incentives and Quality Services

"Bin Salama" pointed to a package of financial and funding incentives and quality services to support companies affected by rising costs, in addition to enhancing effective communication with relevant authorities, including the Industrial Center and the Food Security Authority, to address challenges related to supply chains, whether in inventory or transportation operations.

The meeting addressed the efforts of the relevant authorities to improve the efficiency of the transportation sector by optimizing truck usage and applying flexible regulations for their movement within cities, alongside extending their operational lifespan exceptionally to 22 years, which supports the continuity of supply chains, based on the directives of the wise leadership and its keenness to support the sustainability of economic activities by enhancing the readiness of supply chains, providing energy, and supporting the workforce, thereby strengthening the robustness of the national economy.

12,946 Industrial Establishments in Saudi Arabia

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Chamber, Fahd Al-Faraj, clarified that the industrial sector, with its active role in the economic balance process, is a fundamental pillar in supporting our national options to diversify sources of the national economy and achieve our goals in sustainable development. We have witnessed qualitative successes that have enhanced the Kingdom's position among the most competitive economies globally through the expansion of industrial complexes directly linked to scientific research centers, resulting in a radical transformation in the pace of growth and structure of the national industry.

Al-Faraj indicated that the number of industrial establishments in the Kingdom reached 12,946 by the end of 2025, with the Eastern region ranking second with 2,939 factories, confirming its role as a fundamental pillar in the industrial map, emphasizing the wise leadership's pursuit since the launch of Vision 2030 to empower the national industry.
