The Russian government announced that Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has instructed the Ministry of Energy to draft a decision prohibiting the export of gasoline starting from April 1st.

Earlier, TASS reported that the ban will remain in effect until July 31, 2026.

Novak stated that the disruptions in the global oil and petroleum products market, caused by the crisis in the Middle East, are leading to significant price fluctuations.

Increased Demand

He added, "The increased demand for Russian energy resources in foreign markets remains a positive factor."

The government mentioned in a statement that the volume of crude oil processing remains at last year's level, ensuring the stability of petroleum product supplies.

Several regions in Russia and parts of Ukraine under Russian control reported a shortage of gasoline last year after Ukraine intensified its attacks on Russian oil refineries amid a seasonal rise in fuel demand.

Russia has repeatedly imposed restrictions on gasoline and diesel exports to curb rising fuel prices and address shortages.

According to sector sources, the country exported about 5 million tons of gasoline last year, or approximately 117,000 barrels per day.
