Consequences of the War
The "aviation fuel premium" over the price of crude oil in Northwest Europe has risen to exceed $70 per barrel, an unprecedented record in the data tracked by General Index since 2008.
EU countries rely on the Strait of Hormuz for 50% of their aviation fuel needs, compared to only 12% for diesel fuel, making the European aviation sector the most exposed to the consequences of the war.
