دعت رئيسة الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة أنالينا بيربوك، اليوم، الولايات المتحدة، التي تسهم بأكبر حصة في ميزانية الهيئة الدولية، إلى دفع نصيبها بالكامل بعد أن سددت واشنطن دفعة جزئية فقط بلغت أقل من 5% من إجمالي المبلغ المستحق سداده.
وقال متحدث باسم «الأمم المتحدة» الأسبوع الماضي إن واشنطن سددت نحو 160 مليون دولار من أصل ما يربو على 4 مليارات دولار تدين بها لـ «الأمم المتحدة».
وحذر الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة من أن الهيئة تواجه انهياراً مالياً وشيكاً بسبب عدم دفع الحصص المقررة في الميزانية.
تسديد الإسهامات
ولدى سؤالها خلال مؤتمر صحفي في جنيف بشأن الدفعة الأمريكية، ردت بيربوك قائلة: «على كل دولة عضو أن تسدد إسهامها بالكامل وفي موعده، و160 مليون دولار ليس المبلغ الكامل بالتأكيد».
ورداً على سؤال حول ما إذا كانت «الأمم المتحدة» معرضة لخطر التهميش، أضافت بيربوك:«الأمم المتحدة» أيدت مجلس السلام الذي شكله ترمب في الشأن الذي يخص قطاع غزة فقط«.
وأشارت قائلة:»أما بالنسبة لكل ما يتعلق بالسلام والأمن، فلدينا مؤسسة دولية وهيئة شرعية تسمى «الأمم المتحدة».
The President of the United Nations General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, today called on the United States, which contributes the largest share to the international body's budget, to pay its full share after Washington made only a partial payment of less than 5% of the total amount due.
A spokesperson for the "United Nations" said last week that Washington has paid about $160 million of the more than $4 billion it owes to the "United Nations".
The Secretary-General of the United Nations warned that the organization is facing an imminent financial collapse due to the failure to pay the assessed contributions in the budget.
Payment of Contributions
When asked during a press conference in Geneva about the American payment, Baerbock responded by saying: "Every member state must pay its contribution in full and on time, and $160 million is certainly not the full amount."
In response to a question about whether the "United Nations" is at risk of being marginalized, Baerbock added: "The United Nations" supported the peace council that Trump formed regarding the situation concerning the Gaza Strip only."
She noted: "As for everything related to peace and security, we have an international institution and a legitimate body called the 'United Nations'."
