أعلنت الصين توصلها لتوافق أولي مع الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية لتسوية خلافاتهما التجارية عقب المحادثات التي جرت بين الجانبين في ماليزيا.
وأكد المبعوث التجاري الصيني لي تشنغ جانغ، خلال مؤتمر صحفي اليوم، أن بكين وواشنطن توصلتا إلى توافق مبدئي بشأن عدد من القضايا، من بينها الفنتانيل ورسوم الشحن البحري.
وأوضح أن الجانبين بحثا بصورة بناءة حلولا مناسبة للمسائل التي تثير مخاوفهما، وتوصلا إلى توافق أولي حول قضايا الخلاف التجاري، وذلك بعد يومين من المحادثات في العاصمة الماليزية.
وأكد وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت من جانبه، أن الصين أبدت استعدادها لإبرام اتفاق تجاري جديد مع الولايات المتحدة، موضحا أن المحادثات الجارية تركز على التوصل إلى اتفاق أكثر توازنا يعالج الاختلالات السابقة في التجارة الثنائية.
وأضاف أن الاتفاق سيجنب الصين رسوما جمركية بنسبة 100% على بضائعها، في خطوة قد تسهم في تهدئة التوترات بين أكبر اقتصادين في العالم ودعم استقرار سلاسل الإمداد العالمية.
مباحثات مباشرة
يذكر أن الممثل التجاري الأمريكي جيميسون غرير ووزير الخزانة سكوت بيسنت، قد التقيا نائب رئيس مجلس الدولة الصيني خه لي فنغ، على هامش قمة رابطة دول جنوب شرق آسيا «آسيان»، في جولة خامسة من المباحثات المباشرة منذ مايو الماضي، في وقت يسعى فيه الجانبان إلى تهدئة التوترات التجارية.
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب قد هدد بفرض رسوم جمركية جديدة بنسبة 100% على السلع الصينية، إضافة إلى قيود تجارية أخرى ابتداءً من الأول من نوفمبر القادم، ردا على توسيع بكين نطاق ضوابط التصدير على سلع إستراتيجية، من بينها معادن نادرة.
China announced that it has reached a preliminary agreement with the United States to resolve their trade disputes following talks held between the two sides in Malaysia.
The Chinese trade envoy, Li Chenggang, confirmed during a press conference today that Beijing and Washington have reached a preliminary consensus on several issues, including fentanyl and shipping tariffs.
He explained that the two sides constructively discussed appropriate solutions to the issues that raise their concerns and reached a preliminary agreement on trade dispute issues, after two days of talks in the Malaysian capital.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pessen also confirmed that China has shown a willingness to enter into a new trade agreement with the United States, noting that the ongoing talks focus on reaching a more balanced agreement that addresses previous imbalances in bilateral trade.
He added that the agreement would spare China from 100% tariffs on its goods, a step that could help ease tensions between the world's two largest economies and support the stability of global supply chains.
Direct Talks
It is worth mentioning that U.S. Trade Representative Jamison Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Pessen met with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit, in the fifth round of direct talks since May, as both sides seek to ease trade tensions.
U.S. President Donald Trump had threatened to impose new tariffs of 100% on Chinese goods, in addition to other trade restrictions starting November 1, in response to Beijing expanding its export controls on strategic goods, including rare minerals.
