أكدت دول مجموعة العشرين، الجمعة، أهمية استقلالية المصارف المركزية، وذلك في ظل توجيه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب منذ أشهر، انتقادات لرئيس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي جيروم باول.
ووصل الأمر بترمب الى حد وصف باول بـ«الأحمق»، وانتقده مراراً لعدم خفضه معدلات الفائدة بسرعة أكبر، وهو ألمح هذا الأسبوع إلى إمكانية إقالته بتهمة «الاحتيال» على خلفية إدارته لمشروع تجديد مقر المصرف المركزي الأمريكي.
وقالت مجموعة العشرين في بيان مشترك عقب اجتماع وزراء المالية في جنوب أفريقيا إن «المصارف المركزية ملتزمة بشدة ضمان استقرار الأسعار، بما يتماشى مع صلاحياتها، وستواصل تعديل سياساتها وفقاً للمعطيات»، وفقاً لوكالة «فرانس برس».

The G20 countries emphasized the importance of the independence of central banks on Friday, amid U.S. President Donald Trump's criticisms of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell over the past few months.
Trump went so far as to call Powell an "idiot," repeatedly criticizing him for not lowering interest rates more quickly. This week, he hinted at the possibility of firing him on charges of "fraud" related to his management of the renovation project for the U.S. central bank's headquarters.
The G20 stated in a joint statement following a meeting of finance ministers in South Africa that "central banks are strongly committed to ensuring price stability, in line with their mandates, and will continue to adjust their policies based on the data," according to the French news agency AFP.
