أعلن رئيس وزراء اليابان شيجيرو إيشيبا اليوم (الجمعة) أنه أجرى محادثات هاتفية مع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، واتفقا على إجراء مناقشات «بناءة» في المحادثات المقبلة بشأن التعريفات الجمركية بين الجانبين.
وقال إيشيبا للصحفيين بعد المحادثات: «إن موقف اليابان لمواصلة الضغط على واشنطن لإسقاط جميع إجراءات الرسوم الجمركية الأخيرة لا يتغير، ونؤيد خطط ضخ الاستثمارات اليابانية لتوفير المزيد من فرص العمل في أمريكا مقابل ذلك».
وكان الزعيمان قد أجريا محادثات مباشرة بعد أن توجه وزير الإنعاش الاقتصادي ريوسي أكازاوا، كبير مفاوضي الرسوم الجمركية الياباني، إلى واشنطن لعقد جولة ثالثة من المحادثات مع نظرائه الأمريكيين. وفي جولات سابقة من المحادثات لم توافق أمريكا على الطلبات اليابانية، وفقاً لوكالة أسوشيتد برس (أ ب).
وبين إيشيبا: «ذكرت لترمب أن موقف اليابان هو أن تلغي الإدارة الأمريكية جميع الرسوم الجمركية الأخيرة على الواردات من اليابان، وهو ما لم يقدم الرئيس الأمريكي أي رد محدد عليه».
وقال إيشيبا للصحفيين: «لقد أعربت عن توقعاتي لإجراء نقاش بناء واتفقنا».

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba announced today (Friday) that he had a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, and they agreed to have "constructive" discussions in the upcoming talks regarding tariffs between the two sides.
Ishiba told reporters after the talks: "Japan's position to continue pressing Washington to eliminate all recent tariff measures remains unchanged, and we support plans to inject Japanese investments to provide more job opportunities in America in return."
The two leaders had direct talks after Japan's chief tariff negotiator, Ryuji Akazawa, traveled to Washington for a third round of discussions with his American counterparts. In previous rounds of talks, the U.S. did not agree to Japan's requests, according to the Associated Press (AP).
Ishiba stated: "I mentioned to Trump that Japan's position is for the U.S. administration to eliminate all recent tariffs on imports from Japan, to which the U.S. President did not provide any specific response."
Ishiba told reporters: "I expressed my expectations for a constructive discussion, and we agreed."
