حذّرت وزيرة الخزانة البريطانية من أن الرياح العالمية المعاكسة الناجمة عن الحروب في أوكرانيا والشرق الأوسط والرسوم الجمركية التي فرضها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب على واردات بلادها قد أضعفت التوقعات الاقتصادية لبريطانيا منذ فوز حزب العمال الحاكم بالسلطة العام الماضي.
وقالت وزيرة الخزانة راشيل ريفز، في المؤتمر السنوي لحزب العمال، اليوم، إن خططها الاقتصادية يجب أن تكون مناسبة لعالم يسوده عدم اليقين، في إشارة إلى أنها سترفع الضرائب في ميزانية الخريف المقرر إعلانها في 26 نوفمبر القادم.
حواجز تجارية
وقالت ريفز: «لقد تغير العالم في العام الماضي، ولسنا بمنأى عن هذا التغيير، سواء كانت حروباً في أوروبا والشرق الأوسط، أو زيادة في الحواجز التجارية بسبب الرسوم الجمركية الأمريكية، أو ارتفاع تكلفة الاقتراض العالمية، فنحن لسنا بمنأى عن أي من هذه الأمور».
وأشارت ريفز، إلى أنها عازمة على عدم زيادة الضرائب الرئيسية التي يدفعها العمال، دون استبعاد أي زيادات ضريبية على الإطلاق.
The British Treasury Secretary warned that the global headwinds caused by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, along with the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on imports to the UK, have weakened Britain's economic outlook since the Labour Party won power last year.
Treasury Secretary Rachel Reeves said at the Labour Party's annual conference today that her economic plans must be suitable for a world characterized by uncertainty, indicating that she will raise taxes in the autumn budget scheduled to be announced on November 26.
Trade Barriers
Reeves stated, "The world has changed in the past year, and we are not immune to this change, whether it is wars in Europe and the Middle East, an increase in trade barriers due to American tariffs, or rising global borrowing costs; we are not immune to any of these issues."
Reeves indicated that she is determined not to increase the main taxes paid by workers, without ruling out any tax increases altogether.
