سجل المؤشر ناسداك المجمع مستوى إغلاق قياسياً مرتفعاً في آخر جلسة تداول متباينة، بدعم من سهم مايكروسوفت، وسط تطلع المستثمرين إلى اجتماع مجلس الاحتياطي الفيدرالي خلال الأسبوع القادم، وسط توقعات على نطاق واسع بأن يخفض خلاله أسعار الفائدة لمواجهة التباطؤ في سوق العمل.
وبدعم من مكاسب في سهم تسلا وأسهم أخرى مرتبطة بالتكنولوجيا، واصل المؤشر ناسداك ارتفاعه في الجلسة السابقة، إذ سجلت المؤشرات الثلاثة أعلى مستوياتها على الإطلاق.
ويترقب المستثمرون بشدة اجتماع الاحتياطي الفيدرالي يومي الثلاثاء والأربعاء القادم، ويتوقعون أن يخفض البنك المركزي أسعار الفائدة بمقدار 25 نقطة أساس، بعد أن أظهرت أحدث البيانات ضعفاً طويل الأمد في التوظيف وتراجعاً في مخاوف التضخم.
التقاط الأنفاس
وقال كبير خبراء الاستثمار لدى «سي.إف.آر.إيه ريسيرش» سام ستوفال: «نظراً للقفزة الكبيرة التي شهدتها سوق الأسهم أمس، بدأ المستثمرون يلتقطون أنفاسهم، ولن تكون هناك أي بيانات من الآن وحتى يوم الأربعاء، إنه نوع من الانتظار والترقب».
وأغلق المؤشر ستاندرد آند بورز 500 منخفضاً بنسبة 0.05%، بواقع 3.47 نقطة، إلى 6584.00 نقطة، وصعد المؤشر ناسداك المجمع بنسبة 0.45%، توازي 96.38 نقطة، إلى 22139.46 نقطة، فيما نزل المؤشر داو جونز الصناعي بنسبة 0.59%، أو 273.44 نقطة، إلى 45834.56 نقطة.
The Nasdaq Composite Index recorded a record high closing level in the last mixed trading session, supported by Microsoft shares, as investors look forward to the Federal Reserve meeting next week, with widespread expectations that it will cut interest rates to address the slowdown in the labor market.
With gains in Tesla shares and other tech-related stocks, the Nasdaq continued its rise in the previous session, as all three indices reached their highest levels ever.
Investors are closely watching the Federal Reserve meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday, expecting the central bank to cut interest rates by 25 basis points, after the latest data showed long-term weakness in employment and a decline in inflation fears.
Taking a Breather
Sam Stovall, Chief Investment Strategist at CFRA Research, said: "Given the big jump the stock market saw yesterday, investors are taking a breather, and there will be no data from now until Wednesday; it's a kind of waiting and watching."
The S&P 500 index closed down 0.05%, by 3.47 points, to 6584.00 points, while the Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.45%, equivalent to 96.38 points, to 22139.46 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 0.59%, or 273.44 points, to 45834.56 points.
