أعلن وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت، أن الولايات المتحدة أجرت محادثات جيدة جدًا مع الصين فيما يتعلق بالرسوم الجمركية، في الوقت الذي يحاول فيه البلدان التوصل إلى اتفاق تجاري خلال فترة تعليق الرسوم الجمركية التي تستمر 90 يومًا.
وأكد بيسنت أن الصين هي أكبر خط للإيرادات في دخل الرسوم الجمركية. وأضاف:«أجرينا محادثات جيدة جدا مع الصين، وأتصور أننا سنلتقي مجددًا قبل نوفمبر القادم».
وشهد الأسبوع الماضي تمديد أمريكا والصين لهدنة التعريفات الجمركية لمدة 90 يوما أخرى، ليتفادى البلدان رسوما باهظة في خانة المئات في الوقت الذي يستعد فيه تجار التجزئة الأمريكيون لزيادة المخزونات قبل موسم العطلات في نهاية العام.
ويبقي القرار الرسوم الأمريكية على الواردات الصينية عند 30%، بينما تفرض الصين 10% على الواردات الأمريكية.
ويتيح توقيت التمديد حتى نوفمبر القادم وقتا للزيادة الموسمية في الخريف في الواردات لموسم عيد الميلاد.
وتمارس واشنطن ضغوطا أيضا على بكين لوقف شراء النفط الروسي، مع تهديد بفرض رسوم جمركية ثانوية عليها بهذا الشأن.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent announced that the United States has had very good talks with China regarding tariffs, as both countries attempt to reach a trade agreement during the 90-day tariff suspension period.
Pisent confirmed that China is the largest source of revenue in tariff income. He added, "We have had very good talks with China, and I envision that we will meet again before next November."
Last week, the U.S. and China extended their tariff truce for another 90 days, allowing both countries to avoid hefty tariffs in the hundreds as American retailers prepare to increase inventories ahead of the year-end holiday season.
This decision keeps U.S. tariffs on Chinese imports at 30%, while China imposes 10% on U.S. imports.
The timing of the extension until next November allows for the seasonal increase in fall imports for the Christmas season.
Washington is also pressuring Beijing to stop purchasing Russian oil, threatening to impose secondary tariffs on this matter.
